xii Preface
1 Chapter 1 Introduction The examples in this manual demonstrate how the adapter interacts with TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks. The TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks examples are available in the examples subdirectory of the adapter installation directory. Topics Overview, page 2 Prerequisites, page 3
2 Chapter 1 Introduction Overview The examples shipped with TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for LDAP are designed to help you to become familiar with the basic interaction between the adapter and TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks. The examples demonstrate how you can use the publication, subscription and request-response service scenarios. You do not need to be proficient in TIBCO software in order to understand these examples. However, you do need sufficient knowledge in order to understand the way some of the relevant parameters are configured. For more information about the meanings of each parameters, please consult TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for LDAP Configuration and Deployment. Examples are available for the Sun Directory Server. This document describes how to run the examples on a Microsoft Windows platform.
Prerequisites 3 Prerequisites Using TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks If you are using the adapter with TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks, the following software must be installed to run the examples: TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 5.7 TIBCO Designer 5.6 TIBCO Enterprise Message Service 5.X (if JMS transport is used) TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for LDAP TIBCO Adapter SDK TIBCO Runtime Agent TIBCO Rendezvous 8.1 included in TIBCO Runtime Agent 5.6.1
4 Chapter 1 Introduction
5 Chapter 2 TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks: Example of Basic LDAP Operations This example shows how to use several adapter services within a TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks process to insert, update, search, upsert, and delete an entry on an LDAP server. Topics Example Description, page 6 Setting Up the Example, page 8 Running the Example, page 12 Expected Results, page 19
6 Chapter 2 TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks: Example of Basic LDAP Operations Example Description This example shows how the adapter s publication, subscription and request-response services can be used in a TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks process. The example has four processes: Operations, ReceivePub, Search and TestSubService. This example uses Sun Directory Server. Operations uses the adapter s request-response service to insert, lookup, update, upsert and delete object classes in LDAP. This process contains several typical basic operations that an LDAP server supports, and it includes the following nine activities: Insert: adds a new entry to the LDAP server. In this example, the DN for the new entry is ou=exampletest,dc=test1,dc=top,dc=test. The LDAP_ADD operation is used. Lookup: looks up the new entry just inserted. The LDAP_LOOKUP operation is used. Update: adds a new attribute to the new entry. The LDAP_MOD_ADD operation is used. Update-2: modifies the value of the attribute just added to the new entry. The LDAP_MOD_REPLACE operation is used. Update-3: deletes the attribute that was added in the Update activity. Make sure that the correct attribute value is entered, or the attribute cannot be deleted. The LDAP_MOD_DELETE operation is used. ModifyDN: renames the entry ou=exampletest,dc=test1,dc=top,dc=test to ou=exampletestmodified,dc=test1,dc=top,dc=test. The LDAP_MODIFYKEY operation is used. Search: searches the entry previously renamed in the ModifyDN activity. The LDAP_SEARCH operation is used. Upsert: upserts the previously renamed entry in the ModifyDN activity. The LDAP_UPSERT operation is used. Delete: deletes the renamed entry. The LDAP_DELETE operation is used. In this example, after this activity, the entry created during Insert activity will be deleted, and thus the LDAP server will look the same as it did before the execution of this entire process. ReceivePub receives messages published by the adapter and writes them in a plain text file. In this process, a modification will be made on the LDAP server, which will be published by the adapter publication service. A plain text file will be generated to record this modification in a specified location.
Example Description 7 Search demonstrates three search operations that an LDAP server supports. This process uses the adapter s request-response services, and contains the following three activities: SEARCH_BASE: searches only the entry in the specified DN. SEARCH_ONELEVEL: searches only the immediate children of the entry in the specified DN. SEARCH_SUBTREE: searches the entry in the specified DN and all of its descendants. TestSubService demonstrates two basic operations that an LDAP server supports. This process uses the adapter s subscription service, and it contains the following two activities: Add Person: adds a new entry to the LDAP server. The LDAP_ADD operation is used. Delete Person: deletes the entry just created. The LDAP_DELETE operation is used.
8 Chapter 2 TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks: Example of Basic LDAP Operations Setting Up the Example Launching LDAP Server Before running the example, you have to launch the LDAP server. In the examples, only the Sun Directory server is used. To launch the Sun Directory server, first locate its installation directory on the machine where it has been installed, and then execute the following commands in the command console: cd install-path\bin dsadm start instance-path Launching JMS Service You perform this operation only when you run BWadldapExample-JMS. You do not have to perform this operation when you run BWadldapExample-RV. To start JMS Service: 1. Click Start -> Run -> Type services.msc -> OK. 2. When the Windows service manager appears, locate TIBCO EMS Server in the service list, and right-click it. Click Start in the pop-up menu. You can start JMS Server automatically each time you start Windows. To do this, click Properties in the pop-up menu, and set Startup type to Automatic. Opening the Example Before running the example, you must open the sample project. The examples are located in the TIBCO_HOME\adapter\adldap\version_num\examples directory. The directory contains two.dat files and one zip archive. The.dat files include the same examples as those in the zip archive, except for their file formats. To open the.dat file: 1. Start TIBCO Designer and click New empty project. 2. Click Project -> Import Full Project and in the Import Project dialog box, click the Local Repository tab. In the User field, enter a user name. 3. Click Browse in the Project File field, and navigate to TIBCO_HOME\adapter\adldap\version_num\examples. Select the.dat file you want to import. In this example, choose BWadldapExample-RV.
Setting Up the Example 9 4. Click OK. 5. In the Import-Options dialog box that appears, check Replace existing global variables with those in import and Overwrite on name conflict. 6. Click Apply, and then the contents of the.dat file will be imported into the project. 7. Select Project -> Save. You can also unzip the zip archive first, and then open the examples. Note that when you unzip the zip archive, the names of the directories that will contain the unzipped files must be different from either of the names of the two.dat files. Once the zip archive was unzipped, open the examples as follows: 1. Start TIBCO Designer. 2. In the initial dialog box, click Open existing project 3. In the dialog box Open Project, browse to locate the folder BWadldapExample-RV or BWadldapExample-JMS and specify it in the Project Directory field under the Multi-File Project tab. 4. Click OK. Customizing the Example You can run these four processes directly from TIBCO Designer. Before running each process, you need to conduct the steps listed below (these steps are the same for each of the four processes): 1. In the project tree of TIBCO Designer, click SunDirectoryServer. 2. In the configuration panel, click the Design-time Connection tab. To run the example, you may need to customize some of the parameters according to the actual settings of your Sun Directory Server. For instance, in the Server Name field, the default value is Reset its value to the IP address of your Sun Directory server. Similarly, customize other parameters that are not greyed out. If you leave the Use SSL check box unchecked, skip step 3 and 4. If you check the box Use SSL, go to step Set the Authentication Mode to External. 4. Customize the parameters Trusted Certificate Authorities, Client Identity and Identity. 5. Click Apply to confirm the setting.you can click Test Connection to test the connectivity. Once correctly connected, you can proceed to the step below. 6. In the configuration panel, click the Run-time Connection tab. Note that unless you have selected the check box Use Design-time Connection For
10 Chapter 2 TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks: Example of Basic LDAP Operations Run-time in Design-time Connection tab, you will have to customize the parameters in this tab again. For some of the parameters (such as LDAP Port, User DN, Password and so on if they are not greyed out), you can either specify directly the correct values of these parameters or you can use global variables to represent their real values. In our example, global variables are used in order to demonstrate how to use them to modify the values of these parameters. To modify them, proceed to the step 7 and step Click the Global Variables tab to the left of project panel, expand SunDS, select SSLPORT, and click the pen icon at the top of the project panel to edit this variable. In the editing box that appears, enter the correct value for this variable. Also, enter the correct values for User DN and UserPWD. Figure 1 Edit Global Variables 8. Click OK. 9. Select Project -> Save. 10. Start the adapter in order to start the testing. To do this, click Tools -> Show Adapter Tester -> SunDirectoryServer.
Setting Up the Example Under the Run Settings tab, specify the Working Directory (if this directory does not yet exist, it will be created). Choose the adapter that you are currently using in the Adapter Executable field. In this example, TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for LDAP 6.0 (adldap.exe) is used. 12. Click Start. If a dialog box asks you whether to save the project, click OK. Click the Console tab to make sure that the adapter has been successfully started. Do not close this Window before you finish running the examples. Figure 2 Start Adapter Tester
