2 Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on October 2, 1949 She studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute For several years after she continued developing her photography skills while working various jobs, including a stint on a kibbutz in Amir, Israel, for several months in 1969

3 On December 8, 1980 she had a photo shoot with John Lennon and Yoko Ono for the Rolling Stone Later in the 1980s she acquired a position at Vanity Fair In 1991, Leibovitz mounted an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery

4 Annie Leibovitz is known as a portrait photographer. She developed her trademark use of bold colors and poses while at Rolling Stone Photographers such as Robert Frank and Henri Cartier-Bresson influenced her during her time at the San Francisco Art Institute

5 She has three children: the eldest, Sarah Cameron Leibovitz (b. October 2001), was born when Leibovitz was 51 years old. Her twins Susan and Samuelle were born to a surrogate mother in May 2005 Her birth name is Anna-Lou Leibovitz Her family is Jewish

The lighting is coming from above. -The main subject of the photograph is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes daughter, Suri. The point of this picture in Vanity Fair was to prove that she was indeed their daughter. -The composition technique used could be the rule of thirds. 7 Title: Leonardo DiCaprio and Knut the Polar Bear Year: 2007 Location: Vanity Fair -The lighting looks natural because of the background. The light is coming from the background in the center of the sky. -The main subject of the photo is Leonardo DiCaprio. You can especially tell because he is in the center of the picture. -The lighting and the background make this picture striking. The background looks as if it is from a green screen and the lighting is dark in the background, but light up close. -She is trying to communicate that the rescued polar bear needs to be in this type of environment to grow up and they used a celebrity to make the picture more appealing for a magazine cover. -I picked this photo because I like Leonardo DiCaprio and I thought this picture of him was very artistic with the polar bear to his left.

The light is coming from above them towards the ceiling because there are darker shadows on the bottom of the picture. -The main subjects of the photo are LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen. You can tell because they are the only two people in the picture. -The contrast of the two people in the picture make it striking. LeBron James is wearing an athletic attire and holding a basketball with an interesting facial expression. Whereas Giselle Bundchen, a model, is wearing a very formal dress and heels while smiling. -The photographer is trying to communicate the different kinds of people that are in shape doing different kinds of things. LeBron James is a basketball star and Gisele Bundchen is a model and they are both physically fit and healthy. In the magazine they divulge helpful tips to stay in shape. -I selected this photograph because she

9 Title: Queen Elizabeth II Year: 2007 Location: London -The lighting used is natural. You can tell because it is coming in from outside and the rest of the picture is darker. The light is coming from the door on the left of the picture. -The main subject of the photo is Queen Elizabeth II. You can tell because she is the only person in the photo and the name of the photograph is Queen Elizabeth II. -The off-centeredness of the picture makes it unique. By having Queen Elizabeth II farther to the left, it defies the traditional setting of having the subject in the center of a portrait. -The photographer is trying to capture the importance of Queen Elizabeth II in her country. She does this by having her wear an elegant outfit and of course her crown. -I chose this photograph because it is one of Annie's most wellknown photographs that she has taken in her career. The photo shoot was actually controversial as well due to the fact that Annie asked the queen to remove her crown in one of the photographs which made the picture even

10 Title: Demi Moore Year: 1991 Location: Vanity Fair -The lighting is artificial because it is most likely taken in front of a back drop. The light is coming from the top left-hand corner of the photograph. -The main subject of the photograph is Demi Moore. You can tell because she is the only person in the photograph and the photograph is illustrating the fact that she is pregnant. -The lighting is interesting in this photo. The photographer chose to shine more light on Demi's pregnant belly than the rest of her and the photo. This shows that this is truly the most important part of the picture. -The photographer is trying to communicate the pregnancy of Demi Moore and how it is important to Demi and she is not afraid to show it. -I picked this photo because it is one that Annie is famous for. The story behind it is also controversial which was appealing to me as well. People opposed this picture because they felt it was too revealing for a magazine cover, when Annie just felt that it was a work of art and found no problem with it.
