1 EYE PROTECTION Protector brand eye protection products are essential in many industries to protect operators against flying particles, liquid, chemical and molten splashes, radiated heat and glare. The Protector range of safety spectacles and goggles offer the user protection from eye hazards including medium impact flying fragments. The lenses are manufactured from Polycarbonate Certified for medium impact protection and are available in a range of tint options for varied work conditions. Protector brand safety spectacles and goggles can be used in conjunction with other Protector PPE products to give added protection in different situations. We also manufacture and market a complete range of accessories to compliment our eye protection products including safety helmets, faceshields and hearing protection, all designed to the same exacting high standards Selecting Eye Protection Selection is very much about identifying the hazards and assessing the risks. Selecting the wrong type of safety spectacles or goggles can have serious consequences. It is important to consider the velocity, size and the nature of the hazard when evaluating eye/face protection. Australian Standards AS/NZS 1336:1997 is an excellent reference document and provides assistance. Coverage is very much a factor that must be considered particularly as velocity increases and liquids (goggle/faceshield) become involved. What is the impact protection rating? Impact protection is determined by the metres per second in which a particulate travels: Low impact is tested full-face-on at 12m/sec Medium impact is tested front on, as well as side-on at 40m/sec High impact is tested front on, as well as side-on, at 120m/sec The impact protection is determined by the Standard AS/NZS 1337:1992 Examples of medium impact protection situations: grinding, machining metals, woodworking. All Protector safety spectacles and goggles meet medium impact protection under AS/NZS 1337:1992 Types of eye protection? The scope of AS/NZS 1337:1992 standard specifies requirements for eye protection to protect wearers eyes from flying particles, liquid, chemical and molten splashes, radiated heat and glare in industrial environments. Tested and Certified to Australian and New Zealand Standards medium impact rating for protection from flying particles, liquid, chemical and molten splashes, radiated heat and glare in industrial environments. 99.9% UV Protection Lenses All Protector brand safety spectacles and goggles, whether clear, amber or tinted lenses will provide 99.9% UV protection from solar radiation. Tinted outdoor lenses reduce glare from the sun. (Excludes amber lenses). Anti-static Lenses All Protector brand safety spectacles & goggles provide a natural resistance to repelling dust. 23
