The children will be doing a 2 hour workshop on assembly sculpture Toilets are located: Boys, girls & disables at the front of the gallery Parking: On River Rd. Children to enter and exit the bus one row at a time. Utilize handles where necessary. Educators to be sitting at a single seat at the front of the bus or next to the driver. Educators must never be left alone on bus by themselves with child/ren. There must be 2 staff on the bus at all times. Educator who is not driving must be supervising the children at all times and reminding them of appropriate behaviour on the bus. NS Bus driver Ongoing Version 3_Jan 2015 Page 8 of 13

9 Bus will drop children off at front of building. Once children are dropped off, a roll call will be conducted. Educators will ensure children are in an area away from main traffic area and sitting down before bus driver parks the bus. Route to venue will be followed (as attached). Bus driver to follow road rules and traffic signs. Bus driver will stay on designated travel plan and destination venue planned. Changes to itinerary shall be in the best interest of the children and their safety and wellbeing as per policy. Educator with who is first aid trained must be on bus. First aid kits stocked and checked are on bus. If there is a delay in traffic please phone other educator to phone CSM to contact provider. Get approval from CSM to take alternate route. Follow YMCA bus guidelines that are located in bus. If another vehicle is involved with the bus and someone is injured or unable to get particulars of someone driver license or you suspect the other driver to be on the influence of drugs. Always call CSM If you have a collision with another driver please ensure you get their particulars and fill out an incident form. Do not use mobile phones while driving. Drive carefully, if children are distracting the drive please pull over and guide the children in appropriate behaviour before continuing to drive. Ensure children arms stay within the bus. If in a traffic delay calm children and give supply them with the routine activities for the bus that is within the routine. Do not exceed the max limit allowance for people on the bus. Children who are 7 or under or 26kg will sit on a booster seat when travelling in the 11 seater buses Bus driver must have a license and this will be kept on file. Version 3_Jan 2015 Page 9 of 13

10 The license will be appropriate for the vehicle that they are driving and have done a bus induction Maximum speed limit for bus drivers on freeways is 100 km as per transportation policy. Radio must be kept at an appropriate volume so there are no distractions. The driver must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs for the safety of the children. Children should not sit in the front of the vehicle for their safety. Educator to be familiar with sun safe policy. will continue in light wet weather conditions. In wet weather children should be reminded about walking in 2 lines to stop slips or falls. Only in children s best interest and safety will there be any changes to. NS or RP where possible will contact CSM for consultation. Educator will take a group of children to the toilet. All educators should be aware of how many children are going to the toilet Educator who is taking the children to the toilet will have a walkie talkie on them. Educators will inform children of what toilet they are utilizing. 11 Educators should not be left alone with any one child when doing the toilet run. There must be a minimum of three children Plan for regular-scheduled toilet breaks taking larger groups of children Be aware of the members of the public using the toilets at the same time by ensuring you are in the toilet area outside the toilet cubicle Educators to remind children to wash hands Children must never go to toilet alone Boys will need to use girls toilets or a disabled toilet if no male staff is present Adequate supervision is paramount at all times, when an educator needs to utilise the bathroom inform other educators. Educators to organise another educator to look after their group of children. Where possible children will not move onto further activities until the Educator returns.
