Homily: explanation of the Word of God Homily: explanation of the Word of God PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL IN HONOUR OF SANTA RITA (I schema) Brothers and sisters, in the certainty that those seeking find and those who ask receive, let us raise to the Lord our prayer. We say together: LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER. 1. In memory of Saint Rita's obedience to her parents, grant, O Father, to all children to grow in age, wisdom and grace. Let us pray. 2. In remembrance of the sufferings of Santa Rita in married life, grant, O Lord, to all the spouses to live in fidelity and concord. Let us pray. 3. In memory of the offering that Saint Rita made to You of her children, grant, o Lord, to youths to overcome the slavery of violence, drugs and selfishness. Let us pray. 4. In memory of the hardships faced by Saint Rita in her pilgrimage to Rome, fill with your gifts, O Holy Spirit, the Pope and all the pastors of the Church. Let us pray. 5. In remembrance of the stigmata that Saint Rita bore on her forehead, grant, o Father, the gift of faith for atheists and the indifferent. Let us pray. Watch over, o Lord, this family that celebrates the beauty of thy saints and grant us the Spirit of holiness to transform this world into your home of justice and peace. PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL IN HONOUR OF SANTA RITA (II schema) Brothers and sisters, Holiness is a sign of the Spirit, which works in our midst until the end of time. Let us pray together and say: GRANT US YOUR GRACE, O LORD. 1. In the memory of the courage of Saint Rita in front of the murder of her husband, give us, O Lord, to know how to pardon the wrongs and offences received. Let us pray. 2. In the memory of the work of pacification of the families, worked by Saint Rita, helps us, O Father, to be builders of peace and reconciliation. Let us pray. 3. In the memory of the solitude of Rita as a widow, be, O Lord, the comfort of the sick and of persons in mourning for the death of their beloved. Let us pray. 4. In the memory of the various experiences of Saint Rita, illuminate, O Holy Spirit, all the women who are inspired by her. Let us pray. 5. In the memory of the sign of the roses and the figs, that you wanted to give to Saint Rita, grant all of us, O Father, perseverance in completing good works and patience in the difficulties of life. 6 O Father, who reveal yourself wonderful in your saints, give us your Spirit in order to understand and live the message that through them you transmit to the Church and to the world. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only-begotten Son of God, born from the Father before all time: God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, generated, not created, consubstantial with the Father; by Him all things have been created. For us men and our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, died and was buried. The third day he rose again from the dead, according to the Scriptures, he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. Lord, by the intercession of Saint Rita, pierce our hearts with the thorn of a helpful sorrow, so that, freed by your grace from all sins we can offer to you, with pure heart, the sacrifice of praise. It is right and fitting. C. It is truly right and fitting, our duty and our salvation, to give thanks always and everywhere to you, Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God through Jesus Christ our Lord. In your goodness you have given us in Saint Rita a singular example of love for you and, in you and for you, to all humanity. Her vital force was love and she was always guided by this in the various states of her life, meditating assiduously on the Passion of your Son. Having become an example of charity and sacrifice, she experienced with fullness the sublime demand of love that through the cross leads men to the true joy and the light of the resurrection. And we, joined to the Angels and the Archangels, and the multitude of the celestial choirs, sing with unceasing voice the hymn of your glory: C.A. Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of the universe. 8 SECOND EUCHARISTIC PRAYER CP. Father you are truly holy, the source of all holiness, CC. sanctify these gifts with the effusion of your Spirit, so that they may become for us the body and the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. He, freely offering himself to his passion, took the bread and gave thanks, broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you and eat of it: this is my body offered in sacrifice for you. After the supper, in the same way, he took the chalice and gave thanks, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you and drink from it: this is the cup of my blood, for the new and everlasting covenant, poured out for you and for all in remission of sins. Celebrating the memorial of the death and resurrection of your Son, we offer you, Father, the lifegiving bread and the cup of salvation, and we give you thanks for having found us worthy of your presence to fulfil the priestly service. 9 RITE OF COMMUNION C. Obedient to the word of the Saviour and formed in his divine teaching, we have the courage to say: C.A. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. C. Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day and with the help of your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
