8 H HOW TO USE BOAT STAND CALCULATOR ROK BOAT STANDS USER INSTRUCTIONS POWERBOAT SETUP Important! Be sure that you have read and understand the ROK Boat Stands User Instructions before using any of our products. Warning! Never tie anything to a boat stand, as stands are only meant to support the boat. Any additional equipment may impair use. 3 Proper keel blocking is important. Use wooden blocks below the keel to make sure the base is stable for the boat. 3 Always check blocking for cracks or splits. Never use blocks with structural compromises as they support a boat. 3 Stands are designed for stabilizing boats but keel blocking is always required. Never balance a boat on stands without blocking underneath. 3 We recommend a minimum of two blocking piles beneath boats to ensure a stable base. 3 When blocking boats try to place one of the blocking piles beneath the engine(s) or as close to them as possible. 3 We recommend spacing our stands evenly along the length of the boat with no more than 6 to 8 feet between each stand. 3 Our stands should be paired evenly along the centerline of the boat. 3 Position stands under a boat s hull as wide as possible while keeping the stand tops entirely between gunwales. A wider base will provide a more stable platform to support the boat. 3 When used on soft or unsteady ground make sure that stand s legs are supported on a solid level surface using plywood or another thin rigid material. 3 Never modify stands or place stands on blocking to try and increase reach of stand. 3 For boats that have the rigging on a large structure, we suggest adding one extra set of our stands to make sure the boat is secure in heavy winds. 3 Put the safety chain in the small groove, and tighten the chain up by pulling each stand equally from centerline. Pull ROK stands out so the chain has adequate tension, then tighten adjustment screws so the stands are snug against the hull of the boat. 3 Replace any damaged stands with new boat stands as structural damage can cause failure. 3 Always block boats on level ground, never on a slope. 3 Stands should be checked periodically for tightness as boats may settle. 3 Use extra caution when working on or around boats while they are on stands. SAILBOAT SETUP 3 For power boats with a deep V construction, ROK sail boat stands can be used at the bow to replace powerboat stands. 3 We recommend removing sails from boats to prevent opening while on stands. Open sails while on stands will cause failure of stands. 3 We recommend using V-top stands be used to support both the bows and sterns on sailboats. 3 When using sailboat stands turn the ROK stand until the forward leg (shortest leg) is pointing towards the boat s center line. 3 When using sail boat stands try to keep tops as square to hull as possible.
