1 I dont want to be ill prepared Not being able to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Being overwhelmed with the change in study habits I am nervous that I will not be able to find my niche in the community. I am also nervous about gaining weight in the first couple months that I am here at NC State. I'm nervous about making friends and, as a vegetarian, there will be enough healthy options for me to eat. I am worried that moving to a big city as well as a big campus that things might get a little overwhelming at times. making good friends, being homesick I am very nervous about the food. I am a rather picky eater. I am also concerned on who my suitemates are. I hope that they are all good girls. Being lonely and stressed. I Am Nervous That I Am Being Too Ambitious for Myself And Will In Turn Be Too Stressed out I'm most nervous about whether I will be able to keep myself busy so that I wont have time to get homesick. I'm very nervous about how I will get along with my roommate and my suitemates. I am nervous about homework and stress. I am nervous about my time management skills and leading a healthy life style and not gaining that freshman 15. I am nervous that my classes will be difficult and I am nervous for the adjustment of leaving home. I am nervous that I won't make a lot of friends, which I am sure I will, it is just nerve racking to think about all the new people you will meet. I am nervous that I will be home sick sometimes. The classes being overwhelming and not being able to concentrate and study like I need to. Focusing is a major task for me that I wish I could say came with ease. I am nervous about being on my own. I am very close to my family and I'm scared I will get homesick. Being able to handle everything that is thrown at me and not get too stressed out. CED CED CED CED Page 1 of 9
2 Handling the stress of a job and a new style of learning. I am concerned that I will be overwhelmed by the classes I have chosen to take. I have a pretty hard schedule, but with the right discipline and structure, I should be able to overcome it. I'm concerned about being alone (without parents) for first time in my life. I am also concerned about what college will actually be like and how well i will handle the stress and work load. High levels of stress and pressure Keeping stress under control, but that's okay because I have faith that I'll manage. I am most concerned of being homesick and not being able to manage my time well. I am concerned mostly about being homesick. The two things that concern me is handling stress of academic performance and adapting to a totally new environment. Coming from a small town, the student population is three times the size of my home town. Making true friends is a goal of mine. I'm most nervous about making good grades in all my classes and the stress that may accompany my first year. I'm a little nervous that my classes will be too difficult for me. I don't want to be overwhelmed. The classes. I am concerned that I am not well prepared for the stress that college level classes bring. Being homesick and wanting to go home often. I am most nervous about my anxiety and panic attacks becoming worse, as well as losing control over handling stress. Throughout high school, I missed a lot of school days due to having severe panic attacks and feeling stressed. However, I feel the freedom one has in college will help me balance out my lifestyle. I am concerned about stress and my ability to manage time well. I am nervous about eating too much food and getting fat Handling mental illnesses that could disrupt my education and relationships with others. Page 2 of 9
3 With so many people and extracurriculars it will be easy to get overwhelmed or over-involved. I've cut my schedule down to 15 hours, but I'm nervous about the work load. As long as I keep my mind on track, I'm hoping that I can manage my time right so I wont stress too much. Homesickness Dealing with the stress that will accompany this life change. I am most nervous that I will be homesick and/or not find my place in the community. study habits, finding my way around campus, workload, and stress Being an out-of-state student, I am nervous about what it will be like to be surrounded by completely new people. There are very few people that I know at NC State right now, so I'm hoping that I won't feel homesick or out of place. I am most nervous about being homesick or struggling with time management whether that is having too much time or too little time. I'm a little nervous about the size of the school. I came from a small high school and I'm afraid that I will get lost on campus or be overwhelmed by the size. Stress and time management. Missing anything, just trying to fit in everything I want to do along with what i need to do Safety around campus, eating healthy, and being completely independent I have never been under too much stress before in high school, so I don't know how my classes are going to turn out. Failure and stress. What most concerns me about my first semester probably goes hand-in-hand with every incoming freshmen. Making friends, homesickness, learning how to study. Basically the same nerves as everyone else, I'll be fine! Maintaining a gluten-free diet. Handling the stress of taking classes and succeeding. CNR CNR CNR Page 3 of 9
4 I'm good at having a busy schedule but not making my unscheduled time well managed and healthy. I'm also nervous about fitting in and making friends I am concerned about being overwhelmed Healthy food options, making friends, forgetting things at home. Being overwhelmed by the amount work, and how its so much more than high school. I am concerned about the amount of stress I may have to deal with in regards to my courses. Getting the right classes, having a good schedule, eating right, and not getting too distracted from academics. Making a solid group of friends with similar interests and not being overwhelmed by classwork Balancing a healthy social life with my school work I am worried about my coming academic challenges and the workload I will be taking on. I only hope that I will be able to handle the work and the stress that comes with it. I am nervous about becoming stressed out with all of the opportunities along with managing school work. I am stressed about homework and studying. There is just a lot of work to be done in a relatively short amount of time The size of the campus can be somewhat overwhelming at times. I am nervous about my classes being to hard or overwhelming and not being connected in the community and with friends. Getting fat from the dining hall Classes, stress, and grades I am most concerned with if I am up to the challenge of managing my own time against the stresses of extracurricular activities and the tough college schedule load (I was never the strongest at studying in high school but I picked up on material easily; it might not be the case in college). I am concerned that i will not stay focused on my work, or will become so focused that i lose myself and become overtaken by stress. Page 4 of 9
5 I have had anxiety for the past 3 years, and stress is the number one reason why. I am nervous that college will brin out my anxiety and make it even worse. Since I will not have anyone that I have previously known, it will almost be like I'm by myself which makes me nervous. I am a little nervous about being homesick since I will be fairly far from my family and home. There are always many practical things that can seem overwhelming at first, especially when entering college. Taking care of myself (ie: laundry, food, finances, getting where i need to be on time, etc.). Keeping up with studying and work will lead to a lot of stress. I am worried about getting lost on campus or being overwhelmed and falling behind. The workload. I'm afraid of overwhelming myself and buckling under pressure. Money: Paying for tuition, student fees, and food I am nervous about not knowing how to use the technology and some of the resources available at NC State, being overwhelmed and not knowing how to handle it, and I am nervous about not knowing how to get around campus and utilize what is available on campus. I worry about getting stressed out about the workload and my experiences in high school not having prepared me for university level material. I'm concerned about time and stress management. Being homesick and missing my friends and family at home. I am most nervous about being so far away from home, my friends, and everything that is familiar to me; and managing the stress of college courses. Finding my way around campus, managing my time, and controlling my stress The stress of all the work Being homesick I am worried about missing out on opportunities that I will later regret: not knowing about something that is going on, or missing some deadline needed to participate in something. I'm also nervous about adjusting to so many new things in such a short span of time. I hope I will be able to effectively juggle an off-campus job, school, extra-curriculars, and my own personal time without feeling overwhelmed. Page 5 of 9
6 I have bad test anxiety and stress. I'm nervous about my course load and finding my balance! The only thing I'm really nervous about is finding good friends and being homesick. I'm also slightly nervous about being able to stay healthy. I am nervous about being homesick and about the classwork load. The amount of independence is going to be overwhelming. Being home sick and missin my friends and family. Feeling lost getting overwhelmed with work I am most nervous about the amount of stress there is going to be. I am somewhat concerned about being in a place where I know so few people and not knowing my way around. I am also somewhat cncerned about initial homesickness. Stress. I am nervous about being homesick. I'm nervous about feeling homesick and the fact that I have never really had to study before so it maybe difficult for me to figure out how to study. Making friends, being overwhelmed and stressed The idea of living on my own also makes me somewhat nervous. I wonder whether I will stay reasonably healthy or lose track of what little self-discipline I have. Being homesick. I am nervous about being away from home for such a long period of time as well as classes being too overwhelming for me. I am a little nervous about getting homesick but thats about it. I am nervous about getting either overly stressed or distracted from classwork or getting overwhelmed by the size of NC State and not finding a place to fit in. I am nervous about becoming stressed out from all of the work that I will have to deal with. Page 6 of 9
7 I'm nervous about being homesick and not being able to handle all of my classes. Being overwhelmed by school work I'm nervous about being overwhelmed academically and not makng any friends. Eating healthy, stess management, having enough free time I am most concerned about the stress of classes and if I am well enough prepared to tackle the course load and work of college. Getting settled into a healthy routine with classes, studying, eating and exercise. Being homesick. I will be about six hours away from home and I'm afraid I'll miss home too much. Getting stressed out over my work load and being disorganized. Being overwhelmed I am most nervous about adjusting to the level of work college dishes out. My greatest concern is not being able to rise to the occasion in stressful work situations. Time management is my biggest concern, I see to procrastinate a lot. Ill be doing some homework, think of a sick riff to play on my guitar, and then end up playing guitar for 2 hours, and not getting anything done. Then ill be up till 3 studying for a test I have the next day, and then not get any sleep. Ive been reading a lot of books and trying to get some tips on life improvement skills, it seems to be working, I think ill be okay difficulty of classes, large work load, being overwhelmed with work. not being able to balance school work and a good social life I am concerned or nervous about the levels of stress I may experience, and not knowing how to study efficiently coming back to haunt me. Getting overwhelmed by classes. I have been told that the major I choose is a lot of hard work and at times can be very stressful, therefore I am nervous about my workload and being successful. The stress of my classes and exams Page 7 of 9
8 I am super scared that I will be over loaded with work that will make me miserable. I hope that doesn't happen, and I hope I don't change my healthy way of living, if anything I want to better my way of living. I hope I don't lose relationships with my family by not being able to visit them. Staying in shape Time management and stress levels I am worried about being able to keep up with the work load it will require. I will have to work on my time management but I do think ill be able to do it. Stress and time management Getting lost is stressful and just keeping up with all the school work. Getting plugged in with the right group of peers. Time management. Keeping up a healthy lifestyle. The work load being extremely too heavy and not being able to handle stress. If I am going to get home sick. I am nervous about time management as well as handling the stress and anxiety. Gaining the freshman 15 I am mostly concerned about staying awake and attentive in my classes so I can pass. I am also nervous about the amount of work that I will probably get. I hope I will not be too stressed out by the work. I am most nervous about being far away from home (8 hours) and being so far from my family and boyfriend. I am very close with all of them and it will be hard to be able to be with them or have the comfortable smells and foods of home. Most concerned about getting stressed or overwhelmed with schoolwork. I'm nervous about the stresses of college, managing my classes and workload, and finding my way around campus/ transportation. I am most concerned with balancing everything. Its hard because there is so much to do but lots of academic stuff that I must take care of. I need to find a balance where I won't over stress myself, so that I can stay happy and healthy! Page 8 of 9
9 I am most concerned about managing stress in a healthy way, maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, being away from my parents, and focusing on academics. I am most concerned about getting homesick. I'm nervous about eating too much and about getting to the right class on time I am concerned that the class work might be too difficult and I will get very stressed. Time and stress management Page 9 of 9
