1 Alzheimer Society of B.C Buswell Street, B.C. V6Y 2G5 Bulletin May June 2013 Working together to link individuals and families affected by Alzheimer s disease or another dementia to a community of learning, services and support. Alzheimer Society of B.C. and Tyze Personal Networks What is Tyze? Tyze is a tool that enables families to create their own private online community of support like other social networks but completely private and ad-free. What can Tyze do for caregivers and people with dementia? Tyze can help people: Organize appointments Store private documents (eg. Power of Attorney, Representation Agreement, Wills, etc.) Plan outings and events Ask for help and support Send updates quickly and easily to network members (eg. family members, health-care providers, neighbours, etc.) Share stories, photos, videos, information and resources For more information about Tyze, consult your local resource centre. Tyze is suitable for: People with dementia who are still able to actively participate in managing their own care and activities, and who are comfortable using a computer Family caregivers Other family members, including longdistance caregivers. (A Tyze network can be a way to stay in touch and still participate in supporting the person with dementia and their care partner.) Tyze subscriptions normally cost $129 per year for each network. However, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. has received funding to allow a limited number of families to set up a Tyze network at no charge. If you and your family are interested in setting up a network, please connect with the staff at your local resource centre at Visit for more information. For more information on First Link, referral forms, or feedback, lfeldman@alzheimerbc.org or call First Link is a partnership between the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and the Alzheimer Society of B.C., and is funded by the B.C.
