Confession of Sin & Assurance of Pardon (Adapted from Psalm 19) Leader: The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night display knowledge. Congregation: The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, enlightening the eyes; the rules of the LORD are true and more to be desired are they than gold! 4 Thought for the Week We always need Jesus and He is always near. We don t need to be saved every day, but we need to be reconnected by faith to what is already ours When our experience of Jesus moves from head knowledge to actual experience, we don t mind saying that we are sinners or needy or broken. Of course we are. That is why Jesus had to die for us. But that is not where we live our lives. Even when I have to repent repeatedly throughout the day (some days are like that), repentance opens the door for Christ to come in. The focus of the Christian life is not our sin or our repentance; it is living our lives in the presence of God. Sermon Notes 1 Peter 5:12-14 Main Point: the message about Jesus you have heard from Peter is the True Grace of God. You can believe it. Now stand firm in it. 5 The Apostles Creed Leader: Christian, in secular culture where knowledge of God has been lost, what do you know and believe about God? Congregation: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen!
