3 Objectives of the Pathways to Biotechnology Workshop Lay the foundations for seamless transfer of students from high school to Middlesex County College and from MCC to four-year institutions. Provide hands-on experience- Customize the curriculum sequence for Pathways to Biotechnology program for your high school Enhance the communication between secondary and postsecondary educators about Pathways to Biotechnology program Understand the components of Pathways to Biotechnology program Unarayanan, NASC. 6 A joint admission program is established formally by an articulation agreement between a high school and the College. The students enroll concurrently in high school and in a specific program at the College and earn credits towards graduation from the program.

7 1. Students change majors many times when they are in college and could be streamlined to the right program of their interest in high school 2. A college education is becoming a financial burden on students and parents 4. Lack of alignment of high school and college education 3. Lack of understanding of what community colleges can offer 5. Provide education and career skills development for students from various socioeconomic backgrounds.

11 Completion of 9 th grade Overall grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 A score of 86 or above in Algebra I or II and any college prep science course or Honors science course Students in 10 th grade or in 11 th grade Overall grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 A score of 86 or above in their appropriate Math and science courses listed below: 10 th grade- Algebra II/Pre calculus; Any science course/ College Prep Chemistry or Chemistry (H) 11 th Grade Pre calculus/calculus I ; College Prep Chemistry Chemistry H/ Chemistry AP

12 High School Scholars courses offered at the school by Middlesex County College AP Courses with a score of 3 or above will transfer to the Biotechnology program at MCC. Students are advised that an AP score of 4 or above may be required by the four-year institutions for transferable credits. A maximum of four AP exam scores will be accepted towards the program. Regularly scheduled classes during the fall and spring or summer at MCC

14 Complete the application form Get the approval of Guidance Counselor and parent /guardian If you are planning to take courses at MCC, register for courses Send all completed forms with payment to MCC Meet with guidance Counselor- Choose the course sequence
