3 ENTRANCE HYMN W e cannot measure how you heal or answer every sufferer's prayer, yet we believe your grace responds where faith and doubt unite to care. Your hands, though bloodied on the cross survive to hold and heal and warn, to carry all through death to life and cradle children yet unborn. The pain that will not go away, the guilt that clings from things long past, the fear of what the future holds are present as if meant to last. But present too is love which tends the hurt we never hoped to find, the private agonies inside the memories that haunt the mind. So some have come who need your help, and some have come to make amends, Your hands which shaped and saved the world are present in the touch of friends. Lord, let your Spirit meet us here to mend the body, mind and soul, to disentangle peace from pain and make your broken people whole 3

4 INTRODUCTORY RITES THE PENITENTIAL RITE I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. 7 THE HOLY GOSPEL THE LAYING ON OF HANDS & ANNOINTING The Priest gives a short explanation of what is to happen. DURING THE MINISTRIES (As needed) T he Lord s my shepherd, I ll not want; He makes me lie in pastures green. He leads me by the still, still waters, His goodness restores my soul. And I will trust in You alone, And I will trust in You alone, For Your endless mercy follows me, Your goodness will lead me home. 7

8 He guides my ways in righteousness, And He anoints my head with oil, And my cup, it overflows with joy, I feast on His pure delights. And though I walk the darkest path, I will not fear the evil one, For You are with me, and Your rod and staff Are the comfort I need to know. * * * * * * * * * * O God, you search me and you know me. All my ways lie open to your gaze. When I walk or lie down, you go before me: Ever the maker and keeper of my days. You know my resting and my rising. 9 For you created me and shaped me, gave me life within my mother s womb. For the wonder of who I am, I praise you: Safe in your hands, all creation is made new. At the end the priest says a prayer. HYMN AT THE PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR A nd can it be that I should gain An int'rest in the Saviour's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God shouldst die for me? He left His Father's throne above, So free, so infinite His grace! 10 Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his holy Church. The celebrant continues with the Eucharistic prayer until we sing: H oly, holy, holy Lord. Holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth, heaven and earth Are full of your glory, Lord God of Hosts. 11 We all KNEEL as the Celebrant continues with the Eucharistic Prayer. After the Lord s words are said over the bread and the chalice we use the following response: hen we eat this bread and drink this cup, We proclaim your death, O Lord, We proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest. At the end of prayer we all sing: Amen. THE LORD S PRAYER COMMUNION RITE STAND At the Saviour s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: O W ur Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ. 11
