23 What are Title Standards? Building Energy Efficiency Standards for CA Title 24 kicks in whenever a Utility Rebate is applied for and a Building Permit is pulled - Most work that is a 1 for 1 replacement are not permitted, but Rebates are often applied for - Building Permits will require Engineered and Stamped drawing showing the various Title 24 calculations If more than 10% of the fixtures in a building or Office Space are upgraded Title 24 standards are required - This is up from the 50% threshold currently Most important change to 2013 Title 24 standards Retrofit projects will be required to meet the new-construction standards for lighting than under the 2008 code Spaces in which less than 10 percent of the lighting is being changed out are exempt Buildings in which fewer than 40 ballasts are being replaced are exempt All new lighting must meet not only the lighting power density (LPD) requirements - Lighting controls requirements (including dimming) Demand Response requirement - all commercial buildings over 10K sq. ft.
