We re the only organisation currently offering IDAHO specific resources in the UK with our internationally recognised Zero Tolerance Stop Homophobia Orange Ribbon; a symbol of acceptance, respect And hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities. All materials can be purchased using the attached order form.
2 Page 1 About ELOP ELOP is a lesbian & gay charity that serves to promote the health, wellbeing & empowerment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. We run a community centre & provide a range of direct support services, such as information, advice, counselling, sexual health, community safety, youth & school projects, LGBT family services & varied social support clubs & events for LGBT communities. In addition we also undertake research and provide training and consultancy services for public and private organisations. 3 Page 2 LGBT Resources Our resources are supplied to numerous statutory, voluntary, public & corporate sector organisations & community groups across the UK, regardless of sexual orientation. Amongst these are schools, colleges, youth & community centres, councils, health trusts, government departments, housing trusts, police, community safety units & many more. Numerous organisations order annually & are now increasing their orders having expanded on how they are using the range of resources throughout the year and are reporting back on how successful a tool they have found them. See some example uses below. Some organisations have used high visibility display materials around their workforce & customers centres, have circulated IDAHO fliers & hate crime community safety stay safe tips & ribbons via staff payslips, or to all resident as an insert in newsletters, and have ensured they are included at public & community events etc. Other organisations (councils & police) have used ribbons & wristbands as part of a range of community engagement & inclusion initiatives to demonstrate their recognition of LGBT communities & subsequently have fed-back increased engagement & response from previously hard to reach communities. 5 Ribbons, wristbands & postcards have been utilised to give out at targeted outreach activities and used with posters and other resources for full visual displays at wider events. Schools have used the various posters, fliers, wristbands etc. to promote their own zero tolerance approach to homophobia & to demonstrate their inclusion of all children, young people & same-sex families. Some schools have even had recognition & positive feedback from Ofsted for doing so. These workshops are designed to reflect the school curriculum, take a whole school approach to issues of LGBT hate, homophobia & samesex sexuality.
