2 Introduction Omega D 420/520 Digital features Omega D 420 & D 520 are two highly advanced digital copiers with optional printer functionality which copy and print at a speed of 42 ppm and 52 ppm, respectively. High-quality output is guaranteed with their 600 x 600 dpi printing and scanning resolution and 256- level greyscale. Both models include a standard 70-sheet SRDF-1 as well as a standard stackless duplex unit. For superb finishing, users can add the optional F-4130K Stapler-finisher. With this finisher installed, copying and printing can continue while the finisher is stapling and/or punching, and sets are stapled while pages of the next set are being punched. By installing the F-4220 Booklet Stitcher, complete center stitched and folded booklets can be produced. For those who wish to use the Omega D 420 or the Omega D 520 as a printer, Olympia offers the Printing System (J) which turns these models into high-quality, 42-ppm and 52-ppm A3 laser printers. compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT 4.0 and Macintosh environments. In order to use the Omega D 420 and D 520 as networkable printers, the optional NC- 110 is available. Omega D 520: ideal digital solutions for workgroups and departments that want to stay ahead! High output speed The Omega D 420 copies and prints at an impressive speed of 42 copies/pages per minute, and the Omega D 520 is even quicker with a speed of 52 copies/pages per minute. High image quality Omega D 520 offer a proper copying mode for every type of original: a Text mode (sharp, high-quality text/print) a Photo mode and a Mixed mode for originals that contain both text and photos. Omega D 520 copy and print at a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi, in combination with 256 shades of grey. Standard SRDF-1 document feeder The standard design of the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 includes the SRDF-1, a sheet-through reversing document feeder. With this type of feeder, originals are fed past the scanning section, rather than the scanning section moving underneath the originals. This reduces the noise level. Large paper supply In its standard configuration, the Omega D 420 includes 2 paper drawers with a capacity of 550 sheets each, and a 100-sheet stack bypass. This 1,200 standard paper supply can be expanded by adding either the optional 2 x 550- sheet MD-10K drawer unit, or the optional 3,000-sheet ST- 8K paper deck. Since the ST- 8K is standard on the Omega D 520, its standard paper supply is 4,200 sheets. User-friendly touch-screen display Omega D 520 s operation panel incorporates a large, userfriendly touch-screen display. The messages on the screen provide a clear and easy guidance through the various modes and functions. Even inexpert users can easily take full advantage of the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 s advanced functionality. Standard stackless duplex unit 520 are equipped with a standard stackless duplex unit. A stackless duplex unit, however, turns around each single sheet, and then re-feeds it immediately to be copied on the back. The maximum number of duplex copies is no longer limited. 3 Large memory capacity In its standard configuration, the Omega D 420 incorporates one standard memory board with a 32 MB SIMM. This standard copier memory capacity can be expanded by mounting a 16 or 32 SIMM in the extra slot on the memory board. In addition, it is possible to add the optional MB-3 memory board. This contains a 32 MB SIMM; an extra slot is available for another 16 or 32 MB SIMM. The optional memory board is required for Job reservation and Dual access. The Omega D 520 is standard equipped with 2 memory boards with a total memory capacity of 64 MB (340 pages). Their memory can be expanded to a maximum of 128 MB, which equals about 680 pages (text originals, 6% coverage). Dual access Dual access means that the 520 can do two things at the same time. This applies to copier functionality and printer functionality alike. For instance, the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 can scan originals while they are making copies from memory. Form overlay Another typically digital function on the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 is form overlay. This function combines two originals onto one sheet, overlaying one on top of the other. The first original (logo, header, footer, company letterhead) that is scanned into memory is the form ; this image will be combined with the images of any other originals that follow. The toner density for the form can be set from 10 to 100% (in steps of 10%). Booklet copying Omega D 520 can automatically create a booklet from single or double-sided originals. After all originals have been scanned into memory, the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 automatically reduce them and place them in the correct order for a booklet. Book to book copying This function creates booklet copies from book originals. In addition, it is possible to add a copy of the original front cover. Job building Developed to maximise productivity, efficiency and convenience, this function enables users to easily combine many different types and sizes of originals (e.g., single-sided and/or double-sided A4, A3 or A5, books, magazines, etc.) as well as a large number of originals exceeding the document feeder capacity, into one single copy job. All originals are first scanned into memory. To verify the settings, the user can make a test copy of each last scanned set of originals. Printing System (J) The optional Printing System (J) turns the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 into 42-ppm and 52-ppm, 600-dpi printers while fully maintaining their copier functionality. Thanks to their 256-level greyscale, high-quality output of photographs or any other documents containing halftones is guaranteed. Prescribe IIe With the PRESCRIBE IIe Page Description Language you will be able to control your output beyond the functionality the driver is offering you. This means you can use the printer features to their full extent without being limited by driver or application functionality. Printer memory When used as a printer, the 520 have a standard print memory of 16 MB that can be extended to 64 MB. Job reservation The Job reservation function also applies to the Omega D 420 (with memory board) and Omega D 520 s printer functionality. This means that the user can check the status and, if necessary, change the settings of a print job using the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 s LCD display. It is also possible to cancel print jobs which are still in the queue, or change their priority. A3 printing Omega D 520 support printing on A3-size paper. This feature combines well with Booklet printing and N-up printing.

4 Omega D 520 with F-4130 Finisher Options Standard stackless duplex printing Omega D 520 allow duplex printing in sizes A3 and A4. Because of their stackless duplex unit, there is no limit. Booklet printing With this feature, users can easily create booklets from their PCs. All the pages of a document are first spooled into memory, then printed 2- in-1, in the correct order for a booklet. With the optional F Booklet Stitcher, folding and stapling will be handled by the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520. NC-110 network board The NC-110 in combination with Printing System (J) will turn the Omega D 420 and Omega D 520 into fast and feature-rich network printers, which give you desktop access to all the image, document handling and finishing functions. MD-10K Paper drawer unit The Omega D 420 s standard paper capacity of 1,200 sheets can be expanded with the optional MD-10K for an extra 1,100 sheets. The MD- 10K features 2 paper drawers with a capacity of 550 sheets each. ST-8K Paper deck (standard on the Omega D 520) For optimum productivity, users can add the ST-8K 3,000 sheet paper deck to their Omega D 420. This enlarges the Omega D 420 s paper capacity to an impressive 4,200 sheets. The ST-8K can hold A4 size paper in weights from 60 to 80 g/m 2 F-4130K Stapler-finisher The F-4130K has a stacking capacity of no less than 3,000 sheets and can sort, punch and staple sets of up to 50 sheets. Thanks to its offset sorting method, non-stapled sets exceeding 50 sheets can also be sorted. On the F-4130K, 2 or 4 holepunching is done per sheet rather than per set, which means that there is no limit to the hole-punch capacity (as long as stapling is not selected). Hole-punching begins as soon as the first page of the set has been copied, and copying or printing can continue without interruption. F-4220 Booklet Stitcher 520 can also be equipped with the F-4220 Booklet Stitcher. The F-4220 with 2 main trays has a stacking capacity of a 1,000 sheet on each tray and can staple sets of up to 15 sheets or a total of 60 pages. Thanks to its offset sorting method, non-stapled sets can also be sorted. On the F-4220, stapling can be done in three different positions: top, rear or center. It also operates cover mode on booklet. With its 2 output trays, the F-4220 will sort copy jobs from print jobs.
