3 52 Tips for automatic pipettes Our commitment with innovation allows us to offer new alternatives and solutions to fluid pipetting. Now, we present you our new range of filter types. Tips with filter In order to prevent risks caused by an aspiration excess (figure 1) (pipette contamination, sample contamination and losing), filter usage is absolutely necessary. Advantages of using a filter: - It absorbs some of the excess fluid, therefore avoiding contact with the pipette. It also allows some time to react. - It holds the aerosols generated in the aspiration, minimising risks. - It protects the sample from an eventual contamination caused by a non sterile pipette. Filter partially absorbs the excess of aspirated fluid STANDARD FILTER: Made of hydrophobic polypropylene, The Standard Filter is able to absorb between 10 and 20% of the nominal volume of the tip. For example, a 100 µl tip may aspirate between µl with no risk of liquid trespassing. The air that crosses the filter is aerosol free EXTRA FILTER: Made of hydrophobic polypropylene. The filter holds the fluid... EXTRA filter offers an advanced protection against aerosols. Moreover, in case of over aspiration, the filter compacts itself when the fluid comes in touch with it, blocking it. It differs from other filters on the market, as it allows to recover the aspired sample.... allowing us to recuperate it X-COLOUR FILTER: Made of hydrophilic polypropylene. Filter partially absorbs the excess of aspirated fluid X-Colour filter offers an protection against aerosols. In case the fluid got in touch with the filter, it holds the fluid as the Standard Filter; but, furthermore, it changes its own colour and the one of the sample to blue, warning the user. Once it has got in touch with the filter, the sample is no longer useful. Filter changes colour to blue
