4 PROFINET Hardware Test Main checks are: Plug type and of its correct wiring 100Base-TX functions Auto-Polarity Crossover function Auto-Negotiation Compliance with IEEE or ISO/IEC Specific requirements according to the PROFINET Cabling and Connector Guideline PROFINET State Machine Test Method: There are test patterns for different kinds of possible messages and parameters generated out of the state machines of the PROFINET standards. These test patterns together with the anticipated responses are fed into a PROFINET IO controller simulator. The PROFINET IO controller simulator runs the complete test patterns while connected to the PROFINET device under test, compares nominal/actual reactions and is recording the results that may be printed out for the test report. Result: extensive automated PROFINET state machine test Tested State Machines: DCPMCS and DCPUCR/DCPMCR with changing of the settings and parameters RMPM in combination to the machines DCPMCS and DCPUCR/DCPMCR, and also RPC_calls (Connect, Release, Control, Read, Write) CMDEV with startup of the communication, repeat of frames and timeout (e.g. test of Subslot 0 no I/O data shall be transmitted, APIs: only API 0 and API 0x shall be available, only at defined profiles other APIs may be used ). PPM and CPM with the cyclic data and data status and the timing of the data and their monitoring (e.g. DataHoldTime, CycleTime, CycleCounter, ). ALPMI/ALPMR and APMR and APMS with Alarms, Alarm_Ack and acyclic frames, as well as repeat of frames and timeout Available test system: PROFINET IO Device Tester

6 PROFINET Interoperability Test Method: The Interoperability test of the PROFINET Device Under Test is done together with a minimum of 5 other PROFINET devices and two PROFINET controller.
