1 THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR WALES AND LITERACY WORLD The National Curriculum for Wales recommends that in Key Stage 2, Progress is achieved through an integrated programme of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Literacy World provides an excellent framework for such a programme of study, providing comprehensive coverage of the skills and range requirements. This chart shows how the three strands of oracy, reading and writing are covered in each of the Literacy World Essential Fiction and Non-fiction units. There will naturally be some requirements that are covered throughout children s literacy work and indeed the whole curriculum; this chart simply denotes where they are taught specifically.
