1 Visa application fees How to pay Online payment only using a Visa or MasterCard credit card. We are unable to support any other type of credit cards such as American Express. Payments by debit card are not permitted. Fees for dependants: Dependants are charged the same fee as the main applicant unless otherwise stated. All dependants who are travelling must pay the fee whether or not they are included in the main applicant's passport. Refunds: Your visa application fee will be refunded only if the application is withdrawn in writing prior to any processing taking place or if your biometric information has not been taken. Refunds will not be given if your application is refused or if a long term visit visa is granted for less than the period applied for. If you want a refund please see the information about applying for a refund in the USA on this website. These fees are effective for all visa applications made from 6 April The consular rate of exchange is USD $1.65 to 1. 6 Exempt Status and Courtesy Endorsements Applicants on official business/duties may be exempt from immigration and / or biometric checks. It may not be appropriate to charge a fee dependant on the purpose of the official visit. Private visits may not be extended this courtesy and would be subject to both fee and immigration &/or biometric checks Dependants of members of the armed forces are not exempt from immigration control. However, dependants of military personnel of NATO and Commonwealth countries posted for service in the UK are exempt from the requirement to provide biometrics as a matter of policy. This exemption does not apply when the applicant is a dependant of a forces member coming to the UK for training.
