2 Renewable Energy Programs Solar PV Program Incentives for the installation of grid-connected Solar Electric/Photovoltaic systems by eligible installers Solar Thermal Program Incentives for the installation of solar thermal hot water systems for residential and non-residential customers by eligible installers Fuel Cell Program Incentives to support the purchase, installation, and operation of stationary fuel cell electric power generation equipment On-Site Wind Turbine Program Incentives to install wind turbines by eligible installers Anaerobic Digester Gas-to-Electricity Program Incentives to install electric generators fueled by digester gas from farms, wastewater treatment plants, and food processing byproducts

3 Solar PV Program - PON 2112 Incentive amounts: $1.15/Watt up to 50kW, then $0.75/Watt for the remaining wattage up to 200KW.* Residential incentives are capped at 25kW Commercial incentives are capped at 200kW Farms with residential meter classification can receive the commercial incentive, and can keep the residential classification up to 100kW *(NYSERDA s incentive is subject to change without advanced notice based upon program demand)

4 Solar Thermal - PON 2149 Offers incentives for the installation of new Solar Thermal (ST) systems to produce hot water and displace electrically heated hot water Incentive level = $1.50 per displaced kwh. The caps are: 1. $4,000 per Residential System 2. $25,000 per Non-Residential System

5 Residential Programs Home Performance with ENERGY STAR & Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR A wholehouse approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort, while saving money EmPower Free energy efficiency services to low-income homeowners and renters Low-rise Residential New Construction Programs Encourages construction of single-family homes/low-rise residential units that operate energy efficiently, are durable, and create a healthy environment (includes New York ENERGY STAR Homes Program)

6 Results Through 2012, NYSERDA installed renewable generation at more than 7,000 locations across NYS, helping to develop: 54 large-scale renewable generation projects with more than 1,800 MW of renewable generation capacity; 50 facilities are operating, producing enough electricity to power 550,000 homes; remaining projects are under design and construction

8 HPwES Program Incentives 10% Cash Back Incentive Cash back incentive of 10% (up to $3,000) of eligible measures that are installed by a participating contractor Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR If your household earns less than 80% of the median household income for your area, you may be eligible to receive 50% of the cost of eligible work, up to $5,000 for single family homes and up to $10,000 for 2-4 family homes

9 Green Jobs Green NY Financing Options Green Jobs Green NY Financing Options Up to $13,000 per household or up to $25,000 if project meets higher cost- effectiveness standards Loans for 5, 10, or 15 years Option 1: On-Bill Recovery (OBR) Financing An OBR Loan allows you to have your loan payments included on your utility bill. Interest rate of 3.49%* Option 2: Smart Energy Loan Offers affordable interest rates, flexible terms and simple repayment options The current interest rate is 3.49%* for automatic bank withdrawals. *Interest rates are subject to change.

10 Residential Loan Fund Provides an interest rate reduction up to 4% less than a participating lender s normal interest rate (but not lower than 3%) for terms of up to 10 years.

11 Results Over the past 15 years, NYSERDA-administered energy efficiency programs have: Saved enough electricity to power 866,000 homes each year Saved enough natural gas, propane, oil and other heating fuels to heat 164,000 homes each year Saved customers more than $5.8 billion dollars in cumulative energy savings

12 C&I Programs New Construction Offers whole building technical support for design teams and financial incentives for owners of new, and substantially renovated construction projects Existing Facilities Offers a comprehensive strategy to realize verified energy savings through an integrated approach to costeffective energy efficiency Industrial and Process Efficiency Offers incentives that help manufacturers and data centers make energy-efficiency process improvements that measurably reduce energy costs and improve productivity FlexTech Offers cost-shared, site-specific technical assistance and studies to identify opportunities that reduce energy consumption and costs for informed decision making Applicants must pay into the electric or gas System Benefits Charge.

13 New Construction Program Provides incentives and technical assistance for energy efficient new construction or major renovations of existing structures. The program offers the following: Technical assistance to evaluate and design energy-efficient buildings Cash back for installation of cost-effective energy efficiency measures

14 Existing Facilities Program Performance Based Path Incentives are provided to encourage applicants to implement larger-scale projects that increase energy efficiency and produce verifiable annual energy savings. These incentives are related to the annual kilowatt or MMBtu savings generated. Tip: Involve NYSERDA early!

15 Existing Facilities Program Pre-Qualified Path Install then apply Encourages applicants to purchase and install more energy-efficient equipment for small-sized energy projects and equipment replacement projects. Incentives are available on a $/unit basis for pre-qualified energy efficiency measures. Small, Simple Equipment Changeouts

16 FlexTech Program Program Summary: Increase productivity and economic competitiveness by identifying and encouraging implementation of costeffective energy efficiency measures Designed for entities interested in: Energy efficiency technical evaluations Peak-load reduction studies Energy procurement analysis Implementing combined heat & power (CHP) and renewable generation, and peak load curtailment plans

17 FlexTech Energy Audits Provides FREE energy audits to small businesses and not-for-profit facilities Available to facilities with an average electric demand of 100 kw or less Help make informed electrical energy decisions and implement energy-efficiency strategies Audits help identify economically viable improvements that yield substantial annual energy savings

18 Industrial and Process Efficiency Program Provides performance-based incentives to manufacturers and data centers implementing energy efficiency and process improvements Goal is to increase product output and improve data processing efficiently Incentives are calculated based on a reduction in energy usage per unit of production or workload
