1 What is the Project report? The project report is the formal record of the entire process you undertook to complete your Personal Project. The report is the place where you bring together and summarise your thinking, process and creation that helped you to complete your product. You plan and organise the information, your Process Journal will be extremely important at this point as it will contain all the information you need to complete the report, if you have used it consistently. Your report explains your project in a clear and understandable way to whoever reads your report: Your specific topic and goal Your inquiry question and the product or outcome you created Your Global Context Your plans and the process you implemented The resources you used The techniques you applied to complete the project and product The challenges and issues you faces and perhaps solved What you learned about your topic, global context What you learned about yourself as a learner from the Personal Project experience The body of the report is structured around the assessment criteria and it must include these sections. The report must include evidence for all criteria. Format: Requirements for the format of your structured writing are: The written report must be typed in a readable font letter size, and presented in a proper lay out. It must be handed in in a plastic 2-hole report cover (no ring binders!) Pages must be printed on one side only, and should not be put into plastic portfolios. It is required whenever you refer to any of your sources, remember to include an intext reference. Please follow the format for your bibliography and references that is given in the guide All About Plagiarism and how to Avoid It. Word count: 1500 words words Excl: * bibliography * signed statement * extracts Process Journal * appendices

2 You can follow this structure for your written report. Title page (complete) Signed statement, handbook website o Do not forget to sign it Table of contents Introduction short o Write a short introduction, max 100 words. Introduce yourself and your PP to the reader Use in text³ referencing! Investigating o The topic, the goal in their context o What is your personal interest o What is the relation to the global context you choose o Identify prior learning (not just knowledge) o Identify subject specific knowledge (not just school subjects) o Explain your research skills What sources did you use How did you use them Which were helpful, explain why Refer in your written report to the bibliography with in text reference (MLA or Easy bib) Planning o Develop criteria (specification in DT!!) (Based on the first research) o Refer to the planning and recording of the development process of the project in your PJ o Demonstrate self-management skills Show clear time planning (maybe more) (PJ) Explain the development off your process (link: ATL) Taking Action This is where you reflect on the creation o Explain the link Topic and goal Global Context Criteria o Demonstrate thinking skills o Demonstrate communicational and social skills

3 Reflection o Evaluate the quality of the product/ outcome against the criteria o Reflect on how this project extended your knowledge and understanding of the topic and global context o Reflect on your development as an IB learner Bibliography o Use Easy bib or MLA³ Extracts (max 10) from your Process Journal o Process Journal entries (must be dated and relevant) Process evidence sheets, completed and signed by you and your supervisor. (Will be available) Appendices o Show clear evidence with max 5 photos (incl caption) that show the development of the creation o Relevant elements of your process that clarify your written report (only) eg: An inspiring and therefore important interview eg: The outcome of an important survey Realise! ATL, Global Context, IB learner profile are to be discussed in specific chapters, but it might well be that they are worth to mention in another section of your report. But the reflection is in that specific chapter. SIGNED STATEMENT: The following statement must be included: I,... (name).., in completing and submitting my MYP Personal Project, clearly acknowledge that the work submitted is my own and that I have made every effort to acknowledge the intellectual works and properties of others from whom I have benefited. Date: Signed: This statement can be downloaded from the PP-website And don t forget to sign it!

4 Requirements in IB-final assessment criteria Personal Project Complete descriptor, including the level of achievement can be found in you PP Handbook and on the PP website. Criterion A: Investigating define a clear goal and global context for the project, based on personal interests identify prior learning and subject-specific knowledge relevant to the project demonstrate research skills. Criterion B: Planning develop criteria for the product/outcome plan and record the development process of the project demonstrate self-management skills. Criterion C: Taking Action create a product/outcome in response to the goal, global context and criteria demonstrate thinking skills demonstrate communication and social skills. Criterion D: Reflecting evaluate the quality of the product/outcome against their criteria reflect on how completing the project has extended their knowledge and understanding of the topic and the global context reflect on their development as IB learners through the project.

5 10 Extracts The Process Journal Student should select a maximum of 10 individual extracts to represent the key development of the project. And 5 pictures which show the development of the process. The student should select extracts that demonstrate how he or she has addressed each of the objectives, or annotate extracts to highlight this information. Materials directly relevant to the achievement of the project should also be included in the extracts, as appropriate. For example, if the student has produced a questionnaire or survey that has been described and analysed in the report, he or she could include a segment of that completed survey. An individual extract may include any of the formats that the student used to document the process. Extracts should simply be supporting evidence of the process and will not be individually assessed. An extract may include: visual thinking diagrams bulleted lists charts short paragraphs notes timelines, action plans annotated research annotated illustrations artefacts from inspirational visits to museums, performances, galleries pictures, photographs, sketches an transcription of a 30 seconds of visual or audio material (max 30 seconds) Accessible on ManageBac screenshot of a blog or website self and peer assessment feedback
