1 1. HOW DO YOU USE TOOLS SAFELY? A few practical tips: Choose the right tool for the task at hand. Use tools which can not inadvertently start. Use tools with an effective automatic stop (which cuts out when the tool is released). Make sure the tool is in good condition before you start work. Is the cord insulation intact? Do you have a good grip? Steel hammer still in good condition? Make sure you know how to use the tool. Set the tool correctly. Ensure that your footing is stable, so you can not get out of balance or fall and injure yourself or someone else with tools. Ask yourself so that the cord or the hose could easily catch on anything. Make sure the work piece you are working on is sturdy and stable. Before use, check the condition of the fastener (workbench, clamps, etc.). Use protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses etc. Ensure that you hold the tool correctly and in the right place. Make sure to place your free hand right: out of range of the tool. An example is: you cut off, so you will be spared at any shoot out. Do not do other things with tools in your hands (such as lifting a box with a fixed blade). Keep your tools after use so that you will not intervene in the dangerous part of the tool for a subsequent use 2. KNIVES AND CUTTING TOOL Some models are strictly forbidden to use within Yara (see "NO" display) and should be replaced by an appropriate tool Many hand injuries caused by improper use of knives and cutting tools; for different applications there are proper knives and cutting tools are available to be used. One example is the knife for cutting plastic and other material, the cutting blade can not be touched, by using this kind of knife prevent hand injuries. Also, the knife to remove insulation of cables is a good example to be used by the maintenance and contractors, by using the right tool, it is impossible to cut into the hand and fingers. There are many different models of cutting tools available on the market; the cutting tool wherein the blade is automatically retracted after use, the type of cutting tool is what we use The following are several examples of what is / is not allowed. The idea is not to eliminate all knives but to use the right knife for a particular application. HAE Page 1

TOOLS FOR OPENING / CLOSING VALVES: MANDATORY USE To open / close valves, there are several tools available; objective is to use the best tools available in the market in which it is prevented that the tool wegglijd / deinterleaving which may result in an injury. The best tool is the type with the claws 3; this is carried out in such a way so that the best grip is achieved on the handwheel It required tools, based on the experience of many Yara offices, is the type as shown below. This tool gives a good grip and is certified by official bodies (eg. Germany TUV). Moreover, (3 claws for grip) This tool has a ring at the end of handle. This ring makes it possible to attach the tool to a belt or anything else so that both hands are free to climb a (cage) ladder. All the other tools referred to above will be removed from the sites. PLASTIC FLANGE / COLLAR FOR CHISELS: MANDATORY USE chisels are used for many different activities for civil, mechanical activities, piping, etc. The combination of chisel, hammer and hands is the cause of many hand injuries so far. This can be prevented by the use of collar-protection. This is the working method that will be applied at the moment that a chisel and a hammer is used. See below the best practice used in many Yara locations. This will be applied everywhere HAE Page 4

5 FINGER SAVER TOOL: USE IF APPLICABLE A is a heavy impact wrench key with a square, heavy steel and reinforced edges. An impact wrench is used by hammer blows against the stem. This causes a greater time than when the key with the hand is being used. Impact wrenches are commonly used for removal of rusted bolts and nuts or eaten or for assembly and strike when a larger moment is necessary. Because of compact design is ideal for an impact wrench to be applied to difficult to reach areas where there is no other method can be employed. Battle Keys are often used in manufacturing and maintenance environments such as pipeline construction, heavy industry and machine factories. Torque wrenches and hydraulic wrenches have mostly given way to impact wrenches. These are often safer to use and capable of transmitting as opposed to impact wrenches, more precisely the right time. 6 6 GRINDERS With the angle grinder (or cutting tool), you can cutting stone and tiles, steel cutting, derusting and deburring edges. The word "perpendicular" refers to the position of the shaft on which the grinding wheel is screwed, in relation to the shaft of the motor in the machine. You can use the angle grinder with a lot of jobs, but watch out: the device has a lot of power and can be a major safety hazard with inappropriate use. Accidents with an angle grinder are often severe. It often happens that someone cuts himself in the hand or fingers, causing severe injury. It also happens that the grinder streaking and touches the face or that arrive during the grinding of metal flying metal particles in the eye. Check that the speed of the machine corresponds with the speed indicated on the grinding wheel. The vehicle must not make more revolutions than indicating the disk.
