Your Services Low cost decorating
We have a low cost decorating service, to help our customers maintain homes they can be proud of. This leaflet will give you more information on the service and how it works. What does the service offer? The service offers a range of decorating services, including stripping old wallpaper, painting walls and ceilings, and hanging new wallpaper. Who can access the service? The service is available to residents who are of pensionable age, disabled and/or in need of additional support, who are unable to maintain the decorative standard of their home at an affordable cost. Who is providing the service? George Jones & Son Ltd is Peaks & Plains Housing Trust s approved partner organisation who will be carrying out the decorating work on our behalf. George Jones & Son Ltd is one of the largest privately owned and managed painting and maintenance contractors in the UK. The company has been trading for over a hundred years and has a long history of providing a quality customer service. They are market leaders within the industry in part thanks to their extensive experience with Registered Social Landlords, which represents over 80% of their annual turnover. They provide their services, including painting and decorating, to over twenty housing associations in the UK. They have dedicated tenant liaison officers who ensure a completely professional and personal service is supplied to their customers. All the work will meet the standard the Trust expects and that you are
happy with. On completion of decorating all customers will be encouraged to complete a satisfaction survey and return to the Trust. This will allow us to monitor quality and act accordingly on customer feedback. How much does the service cost? Prices start from around 80 but the costs for the service depend on a number of factors, including: What decorating type you require How many rooms need to be decorated Whether you want the rooms painting or papering Whether the rooms need stripping of wallpaper If you want to have the ceilings painted Whether you want to supply your own paint and/or paper You can discuss all of these factors before you agree to have the work done. Before any work begins you will be given a final cost for everything that will be done, and you will have to agree to pay that cost once the work is finished.
How does it work? So now you know that you the service exists, who will be doing the work on behalf of Peaks & Plains and how much it will cost, but where do you from here? Don t worry, we ve made the whole process as simple as we can to make sure you can get the neccessary work done as soon as possible. If your home could do with some improvements and you are interested in using this service, all you have to do is follow these 6 easy steps: STEP 1 GET IN TOUCH Contact the Trust to find out if you e eligible for the low cost decorating service. If you are eligible then we will make an appointment to visit you within 10 working days of your enquiry to discuss your needs.
STEP 2 PRE DECORATING VISIT We will visit you to find out more about your requirements. During this visit we will discuss which rooms you would like to have decorated and what parts of each room need to be done. You can have several rooms done at the same time, or even just parts of a room such as the ceilings. We will talk to you about if you want to provide your own materials or have paint and/or wallpaper provided for you as part of the work. To ensure that the decorating service is low cost any choice of colours will be kept to a minimum. For some neutral colours such as white & magnolia the decorators will always have plenty of stock available. However, if you wish to choose your own colour scheme you can do so, but you will need to supply all materials before work begins. All paint purchased must comply with British Standard specifications. Once you have made all these decisions, we will help you complete a Low Cost Decorating form. This form will allow us to provide you with a cost for the work, which you will have to agree to before work begins. STEP 3 PREPARATION It is your responsibility to ensure all ornaments, pictures and photographs are stored in a safe place prior to decorating. However, large and/or heavy objects such as furniture, TV and curtains will be moved by the decorators. All remaining items including carpets and floor coverings will then be covered with suitable dust sheets provided by the decorators.

STEP 4 DECORATING BEGINS Depending on demand, we expect to be able to start work on your home within 10 to 28 days of our pre-inspection visit. You will be informed of a start date within this timescale that is convenient to you. However, if for some reason we are unable to start by the arranged date you will be informed as soon as possible and an alternative date will be agreed. STEP 5 PAYMENT Once work is finished and you are happy with it, you will be asked to pay. Customers are offered the following methods of payment debit card, credit card or cheque. All customers will be informed of these methods prior to any works and that no cash transactions will be accepted. Payment plans could be considered on an individual basis with payment made by direct debit. Prior to work commencing all customers must agree to cover the full cost of all decorating, even if they move home before the balance has been completed. You do not need to worry about hidden costs, as what is agreed during the pre-inspection visit is what you will pay for your decorating. You will be advised if any additional coats of paint are needed, but you will be able to decide whether or not to have any extra work done. STEP 6 FEEDBACK We will be monitoring the quality of all the work carried out, and will be asking all customers for their feedback on the work and on the service as a whole. We will take any action needed to ensure that the service provides excellent customer satisfaction.
