The Holcim Group is one of the largest cement companies in the world. Holcim is one of the world s leading suppliers of cement and aggregates. Further business activities are ready-mix concrete, concrete products, asphalt and a range of related services. The Group operates in around 70 countries and employs more than 80,000 people.
Our vision is to provide foundations for society s future. We have evolved from a single company acquiring interests in local companies around the world into a leading global group that can meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive global marketplace. Our central strategies and standards empower Group companies, while enabling their autonomy and leveraging their local strengths to the benefit of all. We are trusted partners to the commu nities in which we live and work. We provide enduring value and constancy through the jobs we create, our active social involvement in each local community, and our stewardship of the envi ronment and sustainable re sources for future generations. We provide foundations for people s growth through our commitment to developing the full potential of our employees and partners.
Our mission is to be the world s most respected and attractive company in our industry creating value for all our stakeholders. We are a worldwide supplier of cemen titious materials and related services to the construction markets. We strive to leverage our shared experience and knowledge through out our global network, actively applying this excellence to where it has the greatest benefit in the markets and communities in which we operate. We regard our stakeholders, espe cially our customers, distributors and suppliers within the construction industry, as partners and endeavor to integrate them in our decision-ma k ing process working collaboratively to develop innovative professional solutions.
Our goal is to continually set the highest standards of customer satisfaction in our industry through inno va tive products and services. Our success is tied to the success of our customers. We continuously strive to create enduring value by anticipat ing our customers needs and always meeting their challenges. Our leading role in the cement industry gives us unparalleled expertise in all downstream building materials, allowing us to offer tailormade so lu tions which integrate the newest developments in concrete technology. Our commitment to customer service, and our ability to respond quickly to new requirements in the international construction in dus try, enables us to always deliver on our promises, creating trust and build ing confidence amongst all our stakeholders. Our ability to take advantage of the newest technologies, allows us to generate and deliver innovative e-driven solutions creating substantial value for our customers and strengthening our relationships with them. Delivering the highest standards of customer satisfaction demands a fas ter pace of decision-making than our competitors, constant innovation, out standing technical expertise, and reliable, predictable performance.
Our goal is to secure the strongest competitive position in our relevant marketplaces through creative product design and opera tional excellence. We see change as an opportunity to create competitive advantage through creativity, efficient operations and dis tri bution. We strive to create a culture that constantly challenges the way we do business, and encourages entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives supported by a clear vision of our future, a flat management structure and a faster learning environment.
We partner with the world s best suppliers, leveraging opportunities in e-business to deliver increased value for both the Group and our customers. We are at the forefront of developing new solutions, products and pro cesses within our industry to meet the future needs of our customers. We pioneer new ways of doing business with the aim of giving our customers even better service.
Our goal is to be recognized as an employer of first choice. Our employees are our greatest asset. Their expertise, passion and enthu siasm are the key to our performance. To foster these qualities, we strive to create a working climate that en courages personal and professional de ve lop ment, as well as a culture that res pects the individual, rewarding self-initiative and teamwork. Each employee is a dedicated, highly motivated and skilled professional building confidence and trust am ongst our customers and all other stake holders every day. We continuously encourage our workforce by providing the resources to fully realise their potential through continuous professional development within a stimulating learning environment, and by providing opportunities to learn new skills and to grow with in the Group.
We are a multicultural orga nization. Our goal is to empower our employees at every level, and integrate them fully into our global network. Our company is performance-driven, entrepreneurial and based on in dividual initiative. Our success comes from a dynamic, collaborative global network, which encourages the rapid exchange of local best practice and teamwork across the organization. This enables us to bring the latest technology and expertise to every market, and provide customized and flexible local solutions that meet our customers needs. We commit ourselves to timely and active communication both internally and externally. We believe that em ployees can only be motivated and committed to the Group s mission when they are well informed, and understand the wider context of management decisions. Mutual trust fosters a culture that embraces curiosity, challenge and is more focused on people than structure.
Our goal is to selectively grow our worldwide port folio of companies. We carefully analyze and anticipate market opportunities and growth throughout the world in order to reach out and build long-term positions in both new and established markets. Our enduring commitment to cus tomers, employees and other stake holders in each local market is demonstra ted by our continual investment in the plants, people, and communities in which we operate. Only profitable operations can guar antee the long-term growth of the Group. We use our financial resources wisely in order to be competitive to day and remain competitive in the future.
Our goal is to continually demonstrate our commitment to sustainable environmental perfor mance, and visibly play a leading role in social responsibility within our sphere of influence. Holcim is committed to sustainable development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We actively work to improve our performance, and increase our understanding of the challenges we face in this area. The involvement of Holcim in a wide range of initiatives, including the World Business Council for Sus tainable Development, helps to guide our progress. We promote eco-efficiency, conservation of non-renewable natural re sources and the recycling of secondary materials. We recognize our responsibility to the environment and com munities in which we operate, and seek to make positive contributions by supporting charitable and educational programs. We are committed to providing healthy and safe workplaces in all our facilities, ensuring that our operations do not present a risk to health or the environment, by providing appropriate training, information and systems.
Our goal is to maintain an active dialog with governments, international organizations and NGOs, and be acknowledged as a valued and trusted partner. Our stakeholders are important to us, and we commit to reporting publicly to them on both performance and progress toward our sustainable de ve l opment goals. We are a truly global company and value our reputation as an ethical and responsible member of society. We are sensitive to local cultures and en courage our employees to be socially involved. We speak many languages, and have an enduring dedication to the local communities in which our companies operate.
Our goal is long-term finan cial performance, and to be the most recommended stock in our industry. We have a long tradition of strong management and leadership, healthy financial performance, and conti nued global growth through respon sible and long-term investment in new markets. We believe in a portfolio balanced between mature industrial and emerg ing high potential markets; a strong cash flow; and a steady increase in shareholder value. As a public company, we require strong financial growth to further develop our global position; to maintain our technological leader ship; and to invest in our workforce and our local communities and thus con tinue to generate sustained share holder value.
Our Code of Conduct is the guide to the way we do business. The Code of Conduct establishes a common and consistent framework across our global organization for how we will achieve our mission and goals. High business ethics and personal integrity ensure the credibility and reputation of our Group. Our commitment to good Corporate Governance safeguards the legitimate interests of our stakeholders striking a balance between economic growth, corporate social responsibility and sustainable environmental performance. Appropriate measures will be in place to assist in complying with applicable laws and regulations in the businesses and countries where we operate. Furthermore, the Code of Conduct sets rules for the use and protection of assets and information, solutions to conflict of interest, the handling of gifts and donations, record keeping and accounting, and the importance of transparent communication. All of us are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct in both the letter and the spirit. Violations against the Code of Conduct will not be tolerated.
