2 Overview of the Job Are you comfortable handling large sums of money? Do you like to work in a fast-paced environment? Can you work in a highly regulated environment? Are you able to adapt to different customers? Can you stand for an entire shift? If you answered yes to these questions, then our position may be a great fit for you! What s involved in a s job? The is a customer service position requiring someone who can serve and process financial transactions and requests quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, high volume environment. s perform financial transactions for our customers such as; handling cash transactions, exchanging chips/currency, selling and redeeming tickets, selling and buying chips, redeeming coupons, processing jackpots, gift certificates and cash advances. They must also reconcile and balance paperwork at the end of their shift. s work on the gaming floor in enclosed areas, similar to bank tellers with bars on the fronts. These are commonly referred to as cages. Cage and window assignments are distributed by the department scheduler. Once signed in you will receive your tray of money from a Casino Banker, verify your funds and report to your assigned location to serve customers. In some rotations you will work an Associate window processing jackpots and assisting fellow Associates. This position is a highly regulated position and as such the s are under constant camera surveillance. They often require a Supervisor s approval for many transactions as a result a Supervisor is always in the cage or near by. The Associates in this position do not attend meetings prior to shift start times to keep informed of upcoming events, announcements or changes. Therefore it is important to have a strong sense of accountability to keep yourself up to date on the latest information you need to perform your job. You are expected to review the bulletin boards for any updates, changes and pertinent information or ask your Supervisor if you have any questions. You must be knowledgeable about and abide by the Cage & Coin s variance and compliance policies, internal control procedures, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario control specifications and Casino Policies and Procedures. Successful candidates in this position are required to obtain a gaming license from the AGCO. 4 The Cage and Coin Department The Cage & Coin Department is a medium sized division within Niagara Casinos. Cage & Coin is a distinct entity within the Finance umbrella. The organizational structure of the Department includes a Chief Financial Officer, a Director, Credit and Cashier Manager, Count Rooms Manager, Shift Managers and Supervisors. The Cage & Coin Department has approximately 350 Associates in total. The Cage Team The Cage team consists of a Director, Credit & Cashier Manager, Cashier Shift Managers, Cashier Supervisors, s, Impressment Attendants, Pit Associates and Casino Bankers. There are approximately 225 Associates in the Cage team. As a you will report to a Cashier Supervisor. According to our s, the amount of supervision you can expect is Very high. Due to the regulated nature of our jobs, we work under surveillance cameras at all times and our Supervisors are generally in the Cages with us. Locations and Shift Length Where are some of the locations I will work? What is the length of my shifts? s are located at both properties. The is a customer service position therefore staffing level requirements for these positions is dictated by patron volume. Although the job duties are the same at both properties, Casino Cashiers at Casino Niagara have fewer cage options (2) than their counterparts at Fallsview (4). Full time s have a set shift and set days off each week. Part time and contract s are scheduled to work all shifts with different days off to backfill for vacations, shift vacancies, special events and heavy patron volume days. Niagara Casinos operate 24 hours a day, year-round and coverage is provided at all times. You will be scheduled for eight-hour shifts that include 2-30 minute breaks. Shift start times vary throughout the day. It is important to remember that Public holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year s are occasions when people typically spend time with their families, however, our business operates on these days and you will be required to work. The requirement to work midnights with less desirable days off, holidays and weekends will happen for many years. 5 Training What type of training will I receive as a new? External hires will initially participate in our company New Hire Orientation training. This is a comprehensive day and a half program designed to familiarize you with Niagara Casinos policies and procedures. This training will include other new Associates of the organization. All new Associates of Niagara Casinos are required to serve a 90-day probationary period. Your department orientation training program will take place within a few days after your New Hire Orientation training. This training is approximately 5-6 days totalling 48 hours including some classroom training where you will receive specific information on your departmental Policies and Procedures, standard operating procedures, performance expectations, job duties and a tour of the property where you will be working. Once your classroom training is complete, you will work along side another Casino Cashier and job shadow him/her in the role. This job shadowing is a form of on-thejob training to ensure that you are able to fulfill the requirements of the role.
