2 Transport for Christ is an international, nondenominational Christian organization whose purpose is to lead truck drivers as well as the trucking community to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. THIS IS THE FIRST BIBLE STUDY IN A SERIES OF THREE. Congratulations! You have just begun life s greatest adventure...getting to know Jesus Christ better by studying the Bible. We want to help you become strong in your faith and continue to walk intimately with Christ all the days of your life. WHY DO THIS BIBLE STUDY? A. Because God s Word (the Bible) strengthens our faith in Christ. So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). B. Because God declares that we should be able to...rightly handle the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). C. So that we can understand God s will for our lives, and how to do His will (II Timothy 3:16-17). HOW TO DO THIS BIBLE STUDY A. Begin by asking God to give you wisdom to understand and apply what you are studying. Read Colossians 1:9-15. B. Each question has a Scripture verse or verses to read before you answer the question. A verse reference looks like this: Colossians 1:9-15. The name of the book is first (Colossians), followed by the chapter (1), and then the verses (9-15). At the front of the Bible there usually is a list of the books and the page the book starts on. C. After reading the question, look up the text and read it. Then re-read the verse(s) and answer the question in your own words. D. When you ve finished the study, look back over it and ask God to show you what you can apply to your life from what you studied, and then do what He shows you to do. Bible Study #1 Page 2

3 A. Getting on God s Highway of Life 1. There is only one on-ramp. Read John 14:6. What did Jesus say was the only way to come to the Father? What three things did Jesus say He was? How many other ways are there to get to God? 2. How many people fall short of God s Highway? Read Romans 3: From I John 3:4-8 (that s one of the little Epistles of John, toward the back of your Bible, not the Gospel of John), how would you define sin? 4. How do we get rid of our load of sin? (I John 1:9) 5. In John 1:10-12 (the Gospel of John), God says we must do something to become His sons. What must we do? 6. According to Revelation 3:20 and Isaiah 1:18, what is Jesus waiting for us to do? With a sincere heart I have asked Jesus Christ to forgive my sins and I have received Him as my personal Savior. 4 B. Staying on God s Highway Many people who call themselves Christians never seem to act like real Christians. We ll look at some very important facts about staying on God s Highway. 7. Read John 14:6. Who got us onto God s highway in the first place? 8. I John 3:8-10 says that No one who is born of God continues If we are born of God we should practice How can we tell a child of God from a child of the devil? 9. Read II Timothy 3: From verse 16, what is God s Word profitable for? _ From verse 17, God s Word equips us for (which is Mark 16:15). 10. In John14:26, Jesus said He would send us a Comforter. Who is this Comforter? What will the Comforter do for us, as we study God s Word? God gets us onto His highway by forgiving our sins and offering Jesus Christ to us as our Savior (His special permit). God keeps us on the highway through the Bible and the Holy Spirit in us. We must practice what we read in the Bible in the strength God supplies. Bible Study #1 Page 4

5 C. Hauling the Right Load God uses the word fruit a great deal in the Bible to describe what each of us as a Christian is responsible to deliver. God is the perfect dispatcher. 11. In Matthew 11:28-30, what is the first thing Jesus asks us to do? If we come to Him, what will He give to us? In verse 30, Jesus describes the load He wants to dispatch. What kind of load is it? How would you describe the load of a person who doesn t have Jesus as his dispatcher? D. By the Way No Mixing Loads! 12. Read Galatians 5: What is the best way to keep from carrying a load of wrong desires? (V. 16) When we walk in the Spirit (v. 22), what are the nine good loads we should be hauling? From verses 19-21, list all the bad loads we end up hauling if we don t walk in the Spirit (about 14). Bible Study #1 Page 5

6 E. Reaching the Destination Reaching that home terminal is always a welcomed experience. God s home terminal for Christians is heaven. Until we get to heaven, we are out on His highway, hauling His loads by His strength. 13. Read John 14:2-3. What has Jesus gone to heaven to do for you? After He does this for you, what will He then do? 14. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 tells us that Jesus is coming back again. When He does come again, what will happen to Christians? How long will we be staying with Jesus at our heavenly terminal? 15. Read Colossians 1: In verse 27, who does the Apostle Paul say dwells in us when we are saved? In verse 28, what does the apostle Paul say we should do with the Good News about Christ? 16. What is the home terminal for someone who does not believe in Christ? Read Revelation 21:8. 7 STAYING ON GOD S HIGHWAY What a wonderful thing it is to welcome you into God s family! Transport For Christ is made up of men and women just like you men and women who love God and who want to tell others about His love. The Scripture tells us that we are adopted into God s family through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Galatians 4:4-7; Galatians 2:20). The next thing to do is to find a place to worship with others when you are home, no matter how seldom that may be; and look for our TFC Chapels when you are on the road.
