5 Understanding the Details Enviro-Foam insulation - Warmer Frames and Reduced Heat Loss Polyurethane Enviro-Foam insulation is injected into cavities of the sashes and frame to reduce heat transfer rates. Enviro-Foam insulation also improves the overall window U-Factor. Duralite - Warmer Glass Duralite spacer contains no metal, but uses a polycarbonate spacer element which improves the total window insulating value (U-Factor). Duralite has a three-sided continuous moisture barrier that is impermeable to gas and water vapor. Duralite has excellent argon gas retention properties for long-life insulating glass units. Self-Cleaning Low Maintenance Glass - Cleaner Window Glass Our unique glass is an exterior coated product resulting in windows which require less cleaning and reduce spotting for a clearer view year round. Our vinyl manufacturing processes blend environmental sensitivity with high-quality finished products. Through state-of-the-art computerization we optimize each piece of raw material cut. We achieve high yields on our raw material and we recycle our vinyl, glass, wood and aluminum waste. These recycled materials are typically sent to post-industrial recyclers outside our industry. Utilizing vinyl provides our customers products with sustainable life cycles, keeping them out of landfills. When it comes to environmentally sensitive manufacturing, our vinyl production methods are among the most progressive in the industry. Additional efforts to be more environmentally responsible are upgrades to our equipment used to produce insulating glass in our door and window products. Glass is washed with water from a holding tank after undergoing a reverse osmosis procedure. This pure, de-mineralized water is then used, detergent-free, to wash the glass before it enters the insulating glass room. Our glass oven-presses use infrared heating elements that reduce energy consumption. State-of-the-art gas filling equipment ensures optimum gas fill rates in our insulating glass units resulting in energy efficiency that lasts over the lifespan of the product. Through education our employees can take steps to make our company s production processes and facilities more environmentally friendly. B.F.
