6 Advanced Ethics and Boundaries PBI TELECONFERENCE SEMINARS Maintenance and Accountability No travel and lodging required. The MAS-12 calls have been a wonderful thing for me. Speaking with other individuals with boundary issues has been enlightening, educational, supportive, and reassuring. This entire program has helped me to become a better doctor and a better person. Professional Boundaries and Ethics: Maintenance and Accountability Seminars (MAS-12) 12 CME Advanced weekly, hour-long, group seminars designed to improve relapse prevention by elevating accountability for graduates of PBI courses, and other similar ethics and boundaries courses. I took this course voluntarily to help me through a difficult time. Never imagined the amazing experience it turned out to be! Professional Boundaries and Boundary Violations: The Primer 16 CME The goal of the Primer-16 is to prevent boundary and ethics violations by developing and implementing a Stratified Boundary/Ethics Protection Plan to protect patients, practice, and the professional. Designed to fulfill disciplinary mandates for professional misconduct; general boundary/ ethics violations, sexual and non-sexual misconduct; and workplace harassment by combining readings, written assignments, and telephonic faculty reviews. Course objectives include: Increase awareness to the spectrum of boundary crossings which place a professional at risk for a boundary violation or an accusation of misconduct Obtain a basic knowledge of boundary theory and the dynamics that underlie boundary violations, in order to avoid recidivism To develop a vigilance for early warning signs of potential boundary problems with patients to prevent their occurrence To be able to gain insight into professional risk factors and personal vulnerabilities by relating the information gained from the course to a boundary crossing or violation, which you may have experienced To analyze the multiple sources of professional power and how such power can be knowingly and/or unknowingly abused, resulting in a violation To develop a Stratified Boundary/Ethics protection plan to safeguard your practice, patients, and yourself
