2 1996 Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Faculte de Theologie, France Biographical Information Dr. John Mark Mulder was born in Chicago, Illinois in He graduated from Princeton Seminary in 1970, earning the Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Chicago that same year. From 1970 to 1974, he attended Princeton University as a doctoral student, and was the assistant editor of the Papers of Woodrow Wilson during that time. He earned his Ph.D. in 1974, and returned to Princeton Seminary as Assistant Professor of American Church History. He served as assistant editor of Theology Today from 1969 to Dr. Mulder was also the editor of the 179 page guide to the Papers of David Avery (Microfilm Edition), a project which was funded by a grant from the national historical publications and records commission. The guide was published by Princeton Seminary in In 1981, at the age of thirty-five, Dr. Mulder began his twenty-one year long career as President of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He resigned from the Seminary in He is well-known for having co-edited the seven volume "Presbyterian Presence" series, along with Milton J. Coalter and Louis B. Weeks. Scope and Content This collection includes material related to Dr. Mulder s years as a student and later as a professor of church history at Princeton Theological Seminary, including course notes, correspondence, faculty materials, material related to the seminary s journal Theology Today ( ), reviews, and material related to the project of microfilming the Papers of David Avery. 3 Administrative Information Processing Information The papers of John Mark Mulder were accessioned on July 9, The original finding aid was written by Douglas F. Denné in the Summer of 1996, under the direction of William O. Harris, archivist. Index cards related to Dr. Mulder's work on the Avery Collection were located in the archives' backlog in 2008 and added to the collection. The finding aid was edited by Sarah Seraphin in March of Access There are no special restrictions to access of this collection.
