3 Quick Start Guide 2 Cable the adapter to the USB 30 Std-A connector Micro B connector for keyboard/mouse Choose for monitor Power Supply USB 30 Dual Gigabit Ethernet Bypass Adapter (rear view) a Connect the USB 30 Type A M/Micro B cable to the Micro B port on the USB 30 Dual Gigabit Adapter b Connect the USB 30 Type A M/Micro B cable to an available USB port on the PN Rev C» R62 3 of 10

4 VX Virtual Appliance / VMware vsphere / vsphere Hypervisor / Server Mode [Single-Interface Deployment] 3 Install the ISO image onto the a Plug the USB flash drive into an available USB port on the b Plug in the s power cord and power on the device c Go to the BIOS screen, and change the system media boot order so that the USB flash drive is the primary drive Save the changes The compact PC reboots from the USB flash drive d When the Reboot screen appears, first remove the USB flash drive Then click Reboot VXOA loads after the reboot, and the Silver Peak User Interface appears 4 of 10 PN Rev C» R62

5 Quick Start Guide 4 Establish connectivity to the appliance a To add the mgmt0 port, press function key, F1, and enter the following command sequence You ll need to use the MAC addresses later, in the Silver Peak Initial Config Wizard, so write them down: [vx-appliance] > enable [vx-appliance] > config-t [vx-appliance] # interface mgmt0 mac address <Press Tab twice, and three MAC addresses appear Record the address that does not begin with 00:E0:ED> [vx-appliance] # system bypass type bpusb mac address <Press Tab twice, and three MAC addresses appear Record the lowest one that begins with 00:E0:ED> [vx-appliance] # write memory [vx-appliance] # reboot You are now ready to complete the Silver Peak appliance initial configuration wizard b To verify connectivity, press function key, F1, and enter the following command sequence: [vx-appliance] > enable [vx-appliance] # show ip default-gateway [vx-appliance] # ping <default-gateway> To stop the pinging, enter CTRL-C c The next task is to determine the appliance s IP address: If you re using DHCP, the appliance IP address displays in Silver Peak s Console User Interface PN Rev C» R62 5 of 10

6 VX Virtual Appliance / VMware vsphere / vsphere Hypervisor / Server Mode [Single-Interface Deployment] If you re not using DHCP, then you must configure the static IP address and default gateway In the appliance console, press function key, F4, and complete the remaining steps When prompted to choose the type of management interface, select Static (as opposed to DHCP) After selecting Apply, you can review the settings by selecting function key, F2 6 of 10 PN Rev C» R62

7 Quick Start Guide 5 Run the Appliance Manager initial configuration wizard a In a browser, enter the IP address that you just discovered or configured The Silver Peak Appliance Management Console login page appears b For both the User Name and Password, enter admin The initial configuration wizard appears c Complete the remaining wizard screens When you reach the screen which calls for assigning MAC addresses, you ll need to select the MAC addresses from the drop-down lists If you ve selected router (out-of-path) mode, you ll only select the MAC address for wan0 If you ve selected bridge (in-path) mode, you ll also select the MAC address for lan0 PN Rev C» R62 7 of 10

9 Quick Start Guide 6 Verify that the bypass feature is enabled a Return to the Silver Peak Console User Interface b To verify that the bypass feature is enabled, press function key, F1, and enter the following command sequence: [vx-appliance] > enable [vx-appliance] > config -t [vx-appliance] # show system When the results display, verify the values highlighted here in red: [vx-appliance] # show system Appliance System Settings: Running mode: * BYPASS * System Name: [vx-appliance] System Contact: System Location: Manual Bypass: Enabled PN Rev C» R62 9 of 10
