1 Fernandina Beach First Baptist Church Pastor Search Team s Prayer Guide for 40 Days of Prayer The Pastor Search Team is diligently seeking God s will as we search for the man He has chosen to be the next Lead/Senior Pastor at FBC Fernandina Beach. Realizing our most important asset is prayer, the Pastor Search Team has developed a prayer guide that will assist you in praying for our next Lead/ Senior Pastor. The prayer guide includes a scripture and specific request for each day. This season of prayer extends for 40 days and will be a wonderful way to unify our Church as we focus together on bringing our petitions to the Throne of Grace. WEDNESDAY, 1 Timothy 1:12 ~ I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. ~ NIV a clear and definite call from God to lead FBC Fernandina Beach and that he be faithful in his service. 2. THURSDAY, Psalm 119:10 ~ I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor desires with all his heart to seek God first and to follow His commands. 3. FRIDAY Proverbs 9:10 ~ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. ~ NAS a fear and respect for the Lord that brings wisdom as he faithfully shepherds our Church. 4. SATURDAY 1 Peter 1:15 ~ But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; ~ NIV be holy in the things he thinks, in the things he says and in the things he does. Pray that he will lead our church by example to walk in holiness. Page 2! of 12!

SUNDAY Psalm 119:130 ~ The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. ~ NIV preach the Gospel in a clear and understanding way that magnifies the name of Jesus and challenges us to honor His precious Word. 6. MONDAY Acts 4:13 ~ When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor boldly proclaims God s Word so that those who hear will experience fullness of joy in the Gospel message. 7. TUESDAY 2 Peter 1:21 ~ For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. ~ NIV preach in the power of the Holy Spirit with the assurance that the words he speaks come from God. 8. WEDNESDAY Ephesians 2:8-9 ~ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man Page 3! of 12!

4 should boast. ~ KJV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor, realizing his salvation comes from God s grace, will strive to live a godly life that rebukes the evil one. 9. THURSDAY, Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ~ NIV humbly trust God and acknowledge His ways. 10. FRIDAY 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ All Scripture is Godbreathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. ~ NIV continually equip and prepare himself to teach God s Word. 11. SATURDAY 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ~ Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. ~ NAS delight in the gifts God has given him and have a heart of thanksgiving and gratitude. 12. SUNDAY Hebrews 11:1 ~ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~ KJV Page 4! of 12!

MONDAY Philippians 1:9-10 ~ And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. ~ NIV a firm foundation in the Scriptures so he can discern what is pure and holy. 14. TUESDAY 1 Corinthians 2:5 ~ so that your faith might not be based on men's wisdom but on God's power. ~ Holman put his faith in the power of God realizing the folly of trusting in the wisdom of men. 15. WEDNESDAY Galatians 6:1-2 ~ Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won't be tempted. Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. ~ Holman Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor surrounds himself with godly men who will prayerfully hold him accountable to God as they pray for him and offer wise counsel. 6 16. THURSDAY Romans 12:11 ~ Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. ~ NIV a zeal for God as he fervently serves Him. 17. FRIDAY Psalm 51:17 ~ My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor surrenders his trust to the Lord and allows Him to remove any spirit of arrogance and rebellion 18. SATURDAY Matthew 5:8 ~ Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. ~ NAS Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor has a heart of purity knowing that God looks at the heart and not on the outward appearance. 19. SUNDAY Colossians 3:23 ~ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. ~ NIV focus his efforts on pleasing God and work earnestly to accomplish His will. 20. MONDAY Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper Page 6! of 12!

7 you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~ NIV make decisions knowing God has a plan for his life and for our Church. 21. TUESDAY Mark 10:45 ~ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. ~ NIV a heart of humility as he serves God daily. 22. WEDNESDAY Luke 6:36 ~ Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. ~ NAS a heart of mercy, because his heavenly Father is merciful. 23. THURSDAY Colossians 3:17 ~ And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor embraces honesty in speech and deed so that God will be glorified. 24. FRIDAY Psalm 91:1 ~ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. ~ NAS Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor clings to God as he seeks safety in communion with Him. SATURDAY Proverbs 15:1 ~ A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. ~ NAS Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor speaks kind words of encouragement that give grace to those who hear. 26. SUNDAY Luke 6:38 ~ Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. ~ NIV a heart of generosity realizing that all good gifts come from God. 27. MONDAY Philippians 4:6 ~ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor diligently and passionately prays each day without ceasing, knowing that our heavenly Father desires that sweet fellowship with him. 28. TUESDAY Mark 16:15 ~ He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. ~ NIV a burning desire to make disciples of all nations. Page 8! of 12!

9 29. WEDNESDAY Matthew 25:37-40 ~ Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. ~ NIV a charitable heart to those in our community as he exhibits a character of grace and hospitality. 30. THURSDAY 2 Timothy 1:7 ~ For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. ~ Holman a calm and gentle spirit as he deals daily with our congregation and staff. 31. FRIDAY Isaiah 40:31 ~ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. ~ KJV experience renewed strength each day as he patiently waits for God s direction. 32. SATURDAY Joshua 1:9 ~ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do Page 9! of 12!

10 not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor has a spirit of optimism and courage understanding that courage is not the absence of fear, but the presence of faith. 33. SUNDAY Ephesians 5:15-16 ~ Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. ~ NAS faithfully seek God s will as he wisely utilizes his time in leading our church and staff. 34. MONDAY Genesis 18:19a ~ For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, ~ NIV Pray that our next Lead/Senior Pastor be a godly husband and father; one who faithfully leads his family toward righteousness and justice. 35. TUESDAY Matthew 19:14 ~ Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. ~ NIV a love for our babies and children because they are a precious gift from God. 36. 11 Ecclesiastes 12:1a ~ Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, ~ KJV bond with the youth/teens of FBC Fernandina Beach. The future of our church and nation depends on their commitment to God. 37. THURSDAY Ephesians 4:15 ~ Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ. ~ NIV lead our adults to increase in wisdom and in favor with God. 38. FRIDAY Job 12:12 ~ Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? ~ NIV hold a special place in his heart for our senior citizens realizing the legacy they have at FBC Fernandina Beach is one of honoring our past but always looking to what God has in store for our future. 39. SATURDAY 1 Corinthians 1:10 ~ I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. ~ NIV lead our church to be united in spirit to reach the Page 11! of! 12

SUNDAY Revelation 14:12 ~ This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus. ~ NIV Pray that as the Body of Christ at FBC Fernandina Beach we will keep our trust and faith in Jesus and delight in His commandments. As we follow the leadership of the shepherd God sends us, may we rejoice in the love of Christ knowing that He first loved us. Page 12! of 12!
