Mother Goose Rhyme Time

1 Mother Goose Rhyme Time is a special program for children months and a caregiver held on Tuesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. at Blue Valley Neighborhood Library. This is time to introduce children to the joys of language and literature through rhymes, fingerplays and musical activities. Young children will enjoy the repetition and physical activity involved. Mother Goose Rhyme Time lasts approximately 20 minutes after which there is an opportunity for you and your child to share a special playtime with toys selected specifically for this group. Please try to be on time. Encourage your child to participate with you, but do not be upset if he/she chooses to watch, especially at first. If your child becomes disruptive, feel free to step outside the meeting room and then return when he/she is ready. Siblings are welcome and may bring a doll or stuffed animal, if they wish. We look forward to seeing you each week! BOING! BOING! SQUEAK! Boing! Boing! Squeak! Boing! Boing! Squeak! A bouncing mouse is in my house, It s been here for a week. It bounced from out of nowhere, Then quickly settled in I m grateful that it came alone (I ve heard it has a twin.) It bounces in the kitchen, It bounces in the den. Baby Bunny Baby bunny bounces high (jump high) Baby bunny bounces low (jump low) Baby bunny blinks his eyes (blink eyes) Baby bunny waves good-bye. (wave good-bye) Tired Bunnies Come my bunnies, it s time for bed. That s what Mother Bunny said. But first I ll count you just to see, If you have all come back to me. Bunny 1, Bunny 2, Bunny 3, oh dear, Bunny 4, Bunny 5, yes, you re all here. You re the sweetest things alive. My bunnies 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. (Use rhyme to count baby s fingers and toes.) Funny Bunny Hop Funny little bunny goes hop hop hop. Funny little bunny, Please stop, stop, stop! Wiggle your ears and crinkle your nose. Then wiggle, wiggle, wiggle right down to your toes. LITTLE FLEA Creeping, creeping little flea Up my leg and past my knee To my tummy up he goes Past my chin and to my nose Now he s creeping down my chin To my tummy once again Down my leg and past my knee To my toe that little flea. GOTCHA!

Here are my eyes Both open wide. Here is my mouth With teeth inside. Here is my tongue That helps me speak. Here are my knees And here are my cheeks. Here are my hands That help me play. Here are my feet For walking today. This is my right hand, I ll raise it up high This is my left hand; I ll touch the sky. Right hand Left hand Roll them around. Left hand Right hand Pound, pound, pound. Down in the box there is a little man (crouch down) Who waits and waits as quiet as he can. Until he opens the lid of the box Aaaaaaaand UP HE POPS! (jump up) THREE LITTLE MONKEYS Three little monkeys Jumping on the bed. One fell off and bumped his head. Mama called the doctor The doctor said, No more monkeys jumping on the bed! (Repeat with 2 and 1 monkeys.)

One step, two step Tickle em under there. Round the world, round the world Catch a big bear. Where are we going to catch him? Right in THERE! TEDDY BEAR, TEDDY BEAR TURN AROUND turn around. touch the ground. show your shoe that will do. go upstairs; say your prayers. switch off the light; say GOOD-NIGHT! The horn on the bus goes honk.. The babies on the bus go waa.. Barney says is a game to play Follow me now for fun today. Pat your head. Tap your nose. Now bend down and touch your toes. Wave your arms all around. March your feet up and down. Touch your ears and make them wiggle. Rub your tummy and make it jiggle. Cover your eyes and play peek-a-boo. Now here s a kiss from me to you. (suit actions to words) MOTHER S KNIVES AND FORKS These are Mother s knives and forks, (fingers interlace, tips up) This is Mother s table. (flatten hands and arms) This is Mother s looking glass (palms toward face) And this is baby s cradle. (palms up, rock arms) HERE IS THE BEEHIVE Here is the beehive, where are the bees? (make fist with hand) Hidden away where nobody sees. (cover fist with other hand) Watch and you ll see them come out of the hive. (look closely at hand) One, two, three, four, five. BZZZZZ. (buzz hands around) CLAP YOUR HANDS Clap, clap, clap your hands As slowly as you can. Clap, clap, clap your hands As quickly as you can. Shake Roll Rub Wiggle your fingers Pound your fists Ram a sam sam A ram a sam sam (hit one fist on top of other) Goolie, goolie, goolie (roll hands) and A ram a sam sam. A raffey, A raffey (arms up) Goolie, goolie, goolie and A ram a sam sam. Tick tock, tick tock I m a little cuckoo clock. Tick tock, tick tock Now it s striking one o clock. Cuckoo, (rock back and forth and lift child on cuckoo; two o clock=two cuckoos and two lifts, etc.) GRANDMA S GLASSES Here are Grandma s glasses. (small circles in front of eyes) Here is Grandma s hat. (small triangle on head) This is the way she folds her hands (fold hands, put in lap) And lays them in her lap. Here are Grandpa s glasses. (make big circles front of eyes) Here is Grandpa s hat. (big triangle on head) This is the way he folds his arms (cross arms over chest) Just like that!
