2 KARL STORZ OR1 Streaming Solutions Today the demand of having access to the OR and insight into its workflow requires suitable solutions in communication technologies. KARL STORZ has developed streaming solutions for different requirements in order to facilitate easier communication out of the OR and vice versa. Our goal is always to serve the widest variety of customer s needs. For that, KARL STORZ tends to have the telemedicine systems built in a modular design. With that fundamental approach, our new products in telemedicine are KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD, KARL STORZ OR1 SMARTCONNECT and SMARTCONNECT HD, which give support for all kinds of streaming requirements, from very basic, for example only sending images from the OR, to higher requirements like bidirectional communication between the OR and lecture rooms as well as giving the control ability to the chief physicians no matter where they are in the hospital. 2

3 OR1 Streaming Solutions KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD The solution for all Streaming demands With the modular and compatible setup, KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD coordinates itself with the advanced and ideal network of the existing OR1 media controller and so enables direct access to all other connected imaging devices. It is no longer absolutely necessary to have more experts crowded into the OR. With the full control from outside the OR combined with the bidirectional audio communication, more physicians can simultaneously share their knowledge and professional experience for enhanced patient treatment and for teaching and training. Functional overview: Perfect transmission of the selected OR images directly to the computers in the offices enables live viewing of procedures in the operating or examination room. Access from up to 32 remote places to up to 42 different ORs. Remote control of integrated systems and video sources, such as room cameras, from physician s offices/workstations (if the respective systems and video sources allow). Intuitive user interface: The clearly laid-out interface offers icons for the individual functions to optimize operation. The integrated Talkback function enables bidirectional audio communication*. The Push-to-Talk function can be activated via a button or the keyboard of the desktop/laptop. Recording function: The selected video image can be recorded by activating the Record function. Fullscreen function: The selected video image (zone) can be displayed as a full screen image. The Talkback function is available in this mode. Observe function: A minimized image of the selected video image (zone) is shown in the upper left corner of the monitor. The Talkback function and the Record function are available in this mode. Minimize function: The current OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD Software application can be placed in the desktop s task bar. Video formats: The OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD Software allows selecting the 4:3 or 16:9 video display format separately for each zone (HD ready). This setting is made by the administrator. New ORs (encoders) or offices, lecture halls (users) can always be easily integrated into the whole system. KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD Software is compatible with Windows XP (SP3) and Windows 7. All the preset configurations can be saved and installed easily at any time. Direct installation of the KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II Server hardware into the hospital s LAN and IT system give the system a high stability and durability. 3

4 KARL STORZ OR1 Streaming Solutions The standard package of the STREAMCONNECT II system includes: One KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II server Hardware. One KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II HD software package, which can be installed on all computers within the network of the hospital, and up to 32 users can have access to the STREAMCONNECT II server at the same time. One KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II zone license for one zone (i.e., one connected OR or procedure room from which to transmit). A KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II zone license is always needed for each system or room integrated into KARL STORZ OR1 STREAMCONNECT II system and up to 42 zones can be connected to the system. User control of all video sources (e.g., control of the room camera) requires a device control license in connection with a KARL STORZ OR1 AV system NEO or a foundation solution. Only one license is required regardless of the number of integrated systems. For existing STREAMCONNECT II installations, an upgrade to the HD software is available. Different (password protected) user rights can be assigned for the user side. For example, doctor s offices may each have access to only 2 zones (specialty-specific OR and shared OR), with the lecture room being able to access all three connected ORs. 4

Activation requirements: To activate the zone license the serial number of the OR1 STREAMCONNECT II server is required. Please send the serial number with your order. 1x OR1 STREAMCONNECT II Device Control License to activate the device control function in the OR1 STREAMCONNECT II system for AV system NEO and foundation systems. NOTE: Only one control license is needed, independent of the AV system NEO or the number of foundation STREAMCONNECT system.
