2 Decision Support 2 Asset Knowledge Science Asset Knowledge Science (AKS) is a core component of Decision Support system solution and is the fundamental concept of how knowledge is stored Decision Support. AKS combines process and inspection data, performance parameters, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI s). AKS goes beyond traditional models like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and others. It provides a methodology that embodies a fundamental understanding of the predominant failure modes of equipment, the measurements required to effectively monitor equipment health, and the consequences of failure. Spectrum Decision Support uses vibration diagnostic rules configured by SKF or you, to analyze data from Monitoring Suite or other third party condition monitoring softwares. To enable customization of the Asset Knowledge Science with the end user s own Intellectual Decision Support offers an editor. This editor allows authorized users to make changes at any level in the AKS hierarchy, which includes rules and detection levels. Transforming data into Decision Support Once identified, the appropriate symptom is sent to Decision Support software module. Here it is processed by Asset Knowledge Science (AKS) to be resolved into faults for user notification. 3 Decision Support 3 The Decision Support system Decision Support is an embedded knowledge-based system that automatically analyzes asset health data, identifies symptoms and faults, then notifies a user of the specific nature of the problem, its severity priority and recommended actions. Decision Support Decision Support provides the fault resolution, generated by AKS, and user interface for notification and integration with your maintenance planning system, ensuring effective machine and process analysis, diagnosis, reporting and corrective action. The asset history can then be analyzed and the results applied to a Reliability Centered Maintenance Strategy to improve the plant s Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Decision Support system provides two user interfaces: A PC Client allows users on a LAN to access Decision Support base server. A web enabled browser allows users to access plant fault data via the internet. User Notifications (Pages, CMMS Integration Browser- Based Client Operational Data Data Historians, Performance Calculations, KPIs, Process, Laboratory, Inspection Windows- Based Client Decision Decision Support Application Interfaces Condition Monitoring Data Monitoring Suite, Other Vendors Decision Support system incorporates today s most advanced technologies to integrate data from multiple sources into an easy-to-use application that enables workers to apply decision-making criteria quickly and uniformly, based on meaningful data and a pre-determined set of procedures and priorities. Decision Support application interfaces Data provider interfaces A data provider interface is a data mining engine that extracts key features from vibration data in condition monitoring systems to identify symptoms. Symptoms are sent Decision Support to be combined with symptoms from other data providers and resolved into Decision Support offers a wide selection of system interfaces: Condition monitoring systems such as Monitoring Suite as well as third party systems. Process control systems using OPC. Data historians. Other plant systems via an open ASCII file interface. User entered data. Computerized Maintenance Management System interfaces A Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) interface allows for work request generation and work order history tracking for correlation with asset health and performance. By providing a connection to the Decision Support transforms the raw data into information and Decision Support can interface with CMMS such as: SAP Maximo API Pro Engica and others

Disk/file configuration should ONLY be handled by a SKF Field Service Technician certified on Analyst. If using RAID, the combination of RAID 0 and RAID 1 is recommended over RAID 5.
