1 Introduction - Self-Directed Support (The Four Options) Arranging Supports Under SDS Option 2 and 3 Introduction This document provides details on how supports can be accessed under SDS Option 2 and SDS Option 3. The Council can arrange support with Providers that meet certain criteria as set out in this document. Supported People, under SDS Option1, may also wish to access these supports using their Direct Payment budget. Under SDS Option 2 where a Supported Person identifies that they would like to use a Provider who is not one of the Providers currently on the list approved by the Council as detailed overleaf, the Council can take steps to arrange this. If the Provider satisfies a series of quality checks, the Council will proceed with entering into a spot purchase contract with the Provider. A spot purchase contract mean that the Council is only paying for services that are actually received. Page 1 of 5

2 SDS Option 2 spot purchase contracts which have recently been set up between Angus Council and the Provider: Abbey Care Services Elite Care (Scotland) Limited trading as Elite Care At Home Gowrie Care Limited (Housing Support/Care at Home Positive Steps Flexicare Homecare TayCare at Home Unicare Home Care and personal care (for simple home care tasks) and personal care (for simple home care tasks) and personal care and personal care Under SDS Option 3, Angus Council has a list of providers from whom Personal Care Services can be purchased. As you may know, the Council will be tendering for personal care and housing support services (Committee Report 583/13) which we hope will result in an increased number and range of Providers available for use under SDS Option 2 and 3. We have existing contracts with Providers as set out overleaf which we can use under SDS Option 2 and SDS Option 3. Some examples of personal care services are: Personal Hygiene Help with bathing, showering, washing, washing hair, shaving, brushing teeth and caring for skin for example, applying creams or ointments Continence Management Help with going to the toilet, managing a catheter, stoma or other continence equipment or changing a bed as part of a continence management plan. Food and Diet Preparing meals and snacks (or helping Supported People to prepare these), helping someone to eat, helping to manage a meals service for example, ordering meals, helping to prepare special diets which need extra preparation time such as pureed foods. Personal Assistance Help with dressing and undressing, with surgical appliances such as surgical stockings, prostheses and mechanical aids, with getting up and going to bed and with moving about the home.
