IGCSE International General Certificate of Secondary Education - A UK based middle school curriculum - IGCSE courses and exams in Grade 10 - IGCSE two year courses in Grades 10 and 11 - British universities look carefully at the results in these examinations - American and universities worldwide are also interested in the results of these middle school examinations To receive the German Sekundarabschluss I (Mittlere Reife) through an external exam, please call the Bezirksregierung Köln, Tel: +49 (0) DELF / DELE French and Spanish Language Diplomas, which offer students additional qualifications for their university applications. a) DELF - Standardized, state-approved French Language Diploma, recognized worldwide - Since 2005, offered in three levels, each consisting of four exams - Depending on student interest, ISR may offer DELF courses from level A2 to B1 in Grades 9 and 10 b) DELE - Standardized, state approved Spanish Language Diploma, recognized worldwide - Offered in three levels, each consisting of five exams - Depending on student interest, ISR may offer DELE courses from level A2 to B1 in Grades 9 and 10 or 3. PSAT A practice version of SAT as a diagnostic - Providing skills feedback in English and Mathematics - Each year at ISR in October for students in Grades 10 and 11 4

SAT a) SAT Scholastic Aptitude Test /General Test - To be taken in the spring of Grade 11 and fall of Grade 12 - Test of developed language skills and mathematical reasoning abilities - Given at a test centre in Düsseldorf on specified dates throughout the year - SAT and/or ACT exams are required at most U.S. universities b) SAT 2 Scholastic Aptitude Test/Subjects - Subject specific test to be taken in the fall of Grade 12 - Tests in specific subjects, given at a test centre in Düsseldorf on specified dates throughout the year - Given at a test centre in Düsseldorf throughout the year 5. ACT American College Testing - A four hour exam testing English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning - In general, strong science students tend to do better on this exam than on the SAT - To be taken in the spring of Grade 11 and fall of Grade 12 - Given at a Düsseldorf test centre throughout the year - SAT and/or ACT exams are required at most U.S. universities 6. ISR Accredited High School Diploma Conditions for the receipt of the High School Diploma: - Credits needed: 26 points for courses passed in mathematics, languages, social studies, science, art/music and electives credit = a course that meets 3x per week credit = a course that meets 2x per week - Credits accumulated in Grades End of year results from Grade 9-12 are sent to universities in the ISR Transcript 5
6 All ISR students - who passed their exams in Grade receive the High School Diploma after passing Grade 12. In combination with other ISR leaving certificates High School Diploma + IB (optional: and/or SAT/ACT) High School Diploma + AP (optional: and/or IGCSE/SAT/ACT) ISR students qualify to study at universities worldwide, taking into account the different requirements in the countries. A Short Reminder: Please avoid sending a report card out for an internship, job and school or university application. This is not an official school document. The ISR transcript is the official record of your student`s attendance at ISR. This document may be ordered from Ms. Montaño-Fleischer (Gr 9-12) or Ms. Dopheide (Gr 1-8). 6

IB Diploma International Baccalaureate - Is designed as an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepare students for success at university and life beyond - Two year upper secondary program in Grades 11 and 12 - Offers a bilingual diploma - Internal Assessments - External Assessments and Examinations - Worldwide acceptance including Germany, credit at universities for courses with high scores - Acceptance at German universities depends on specific selection of courses and score achievement - The IB Diploma program facilitates a smooth access to German university as German students may study Language and Literature in their mother tongue - All IB exams taken in May of IB Year 2 The IB Curriculum 7
8 Full IB Diploma course selection - Choose one subject from each group - 3 subjects at HL and 3 subjects at SL (HL = High Level, SL = Standard Level) IB Diploma Program Course (formerly IB Certificate ) course selection - Choose one subject from each group - Possibility for 6 or fewer subjects at SL, for students who do not wish to take the Full IB Diploma 8
9 CAS Creativity, Action, Service - Requires that the students actively learn from the experience of doing real tasks beyond the classroom - Students can combine all three components or do activities related to each one of them separately - To achieve the Full IB Diploma students have to pass their CAS program TOK Theory of Knowledge EE - Is a course designed to encourage each student to reflect on the nature of knowledge by critically thinking, examining different ways of knowing (perception, emotion, language and reason) and different kinds of knowledge (e.g., scientific, artistic, mathematical, historical) - To achieve the Full IB Diploma students have to pass TOK Extended Essay - Is an independent, self-directed piece of research, culminating in a (maximum) 4000-Word-Paper - To achieve the Full IB Diploma students have to pass EE 9
10 IB Scores Full IB Diploma - 45 points score maximum 6 subjects x 7 points + max. 3 points combined for TOK & EE + passed CAS program - 24 points score minimum including max. 3 points combined for TOK/EE + passed CAS program IB Diploma Program Course - 23 points or less - Still qualify students for restricted university entrance depending on the number of courses passed, their rigor (HL or SL) and the achieved scores If total = 23 points or less results If total = 24 points or more For Germany: 24 points in 6 subjects + passed TOK/EE/CAS Failing TOK + EE Failure to complete CAS IB Diploma Program Course Full IB Diploma Full IB Diploma Allgemeine Hochschulreife is awarded by Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf NO Full IB Diploma, but IB Diploma Program Course Results NO Full IB Diploma, but IB Diploma Program Course Results Requirements for admission to GERMAN universities - A total of 24 points is required, i.e. minimum 4 points from 6 subjects + passed TOK/EE/CAS Extra points from TOK/EE are not to be included in the total minimum score of 24 - One High Level (HL) Mathematics or Science course - Two Languages A or one language A + one Language B (HL) - German as a subject is not required - No change of course selections during the program - Language Self-Taught and Math studies are not accepted - Language ab initio is not accepted in Group 1 or 2, only as third language in Group 6 10
