Review when and how to use the passive voice.. Practice using passive voice in the past tense as a review activity. 3. Write processes in passive voice 4. Identify steps in a process through an activity. Learn future tense with passive voice 6. Present their homework assignment in small groups 7. Learn ways to express interest or indifference with reference to homework assignment Theme: So That s How! Extensions: Using passive voice to describe processes, learning ways to express interest or indifference. Stage/Aim/Skill/ Microskill Activity/Procedure Interaction Time (min) Review/Preview Linking & Transitioning to rest of lesson: Recap:. As a class, SS shout out what they remembered about passive voice.. SS write the answers on the board. Activity Error Correction. Pre-Stage. Briefly mention the need for error correction. Transition to #: It s always challenging to write in a second language. But as you can see, some of these sentences are easily corrected. So for future writing. During-Stage Peer Error correction. SS work in pairs to correct errors found in sentences produced in class..3 Post-Stage. SS check answers with another group.. T clarifies any discrepancies and post answers on the class blog.
2 assignments, take a moment to read what you have wrote to check for anything you can change. Now, to review what we learned yesterday about the passive voice, let s do an activity in the textbook. Activity Review Passive Voice: Past tense. Pre-Stage. T asks SS when do we use passive voice in the past tense? Transition to #3: Now let s look at the different tenses that can be used with passive voice... During Stage Group work. SS are divided into 3 groups.. SS work in groups to complete textbook exercise 3 (p. 78). 3. T walks around to facilitate and record errors heard in class..3 Post-Stage Peer feedback. SS rotate groups to check answers.. T walks around to facilitate. Activity 3 More on Passive Voice (Prezi) 3. Pre-Stage. Briefly review form and structure of present and past tense in passive voice SS/ 3.. During Stage Prezi Structure and examples. Introduce future tense with passive voice Transition to #4: Now that we know the structure of using future tense with passive voice, we ll do a group speaking activity. 3.3 Post-Stage - Recap. In pairs, SS practice changing active voice sentences to passive voice sentences through examples provided on the slides.
3 Activity 4 Describing Changes Speaking Activity 4. Pre-Stage:. SS are grouped in groups of 3.. T explains that SS will receive pictures that show changes. Transition to #: So far, we have learned that when talking about processes, we use the passive voice. Now you re going to find out how chocolate is made. 4. During Stage:. SS discuss the pictures and describe what will be done.. Groups switch pictures when done. 4.3 Post-Stage:. Ask SS to briefly recap structure for passive voice with future tense and past perfect tense SS-T Activity QR Code How Chocolate is Made. Pre-Stage. Group SS in 3 groups.. Tell SS they will only use smartphone to scan the QR code to watch the video on how chocolate is made. 3. Tell SS they will identify the steps and then fill in the blanks with the pastparticiple. Transition to #6: Now you know how chocolate is made! Let s see what dishes you have decided to teach us today.. During Stage Group work. SS watch the video in groups.. SS work together to complete the activity. 3. T walks around to facilitate..3 Post-Stage Peer-feedback. T reorganizes groups.. New groups compare answers. 3
4 Activity 6 Review Previous Day s HW 6. Pre-Stage. Group SS into 3 groups.. Tell SS they are going to share their recipes if they are unclear about their friend s recipe, they should ask for clarification Transition to wrap up: So today we learned new tenses that can be used with the passive voice future and pastperfect. Tomorrow we will look at ways to express interests and indifference. 6. During-stage. SS share their how-to homework assignment.. SS negotiate meaning to clarify steps that are confusing. 6.3 Post-stage. SS select the best/most interesting recipe to share with the class.. Move on to wrap-up + assign homework Wrap-up Exit tickets: SS write down things they have learned in class today and question that they still have. Lesson Evaluation Procedures 4
