1 1. #BashtheBigBang I m super excited to begin this journey with you guys today. Your minds are going to be blown. Your heads are going to spin. And most importantly, I truly believe that going through all of this awesome stuff will crush the idea of the big bang and evolution. By the end of this series, everyone here is going to look at the universe and say "There truly is a God." Well to really get into this whole series, I figured we might as well look at the beginning of it all. Now, if you don t know yet, the main accepted theory of the universe right now is the big bang. What is the big bang? It is believed that 13.8 BILLION years ago, there was an explosion of matter. This pushed out particles and matter all across the universe, and it is ever expanding. Here is the general outline for the Big Bang theory:

2 Now, this is called a theory for a reason. There is no, nor has there ever been, necessary proof that this happened. Now Christians believe that God created the universe Ex Nihilo. This is a latin phrase that means "out of nothing." God simply uttered the command, and it was. We can learn about the beginning of the universe by reading the first page, the first LINE, of the Bible. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1).

3 Now this really gives us the complete outline of the creation of the entire universe, doesn t it? God said it to be, and it was, and it was good! Then, when God was finished, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:31) To get your two timelines correct in your head now, Big Bang theory assumes that the universe is 13.8 billion years old. Creationists (those who believe that God created the universe) believe that the universe is a complete baby compared to that: Only 6,000 years old. We have been trying to figure out the universe since man began, but to me, it really seems quite simple. We try and make it difficult with so much other stuff, by making up stuff that really isn t there, by assuming everything that we can t see, all because for some reason we can t accept that there is a Creator God. To me, it s simple. God said, and it was. God spoke the universe into motion. Louie Giglio (who we will hear later this series) calls him a star breather.

4 So, let s bash on the Big Bang. I m going to explain a whole bunch of problems with the Big Bang. You guys can see the issues with it, and understand why it doesn t make sense! Lets go: The Big Bang was an explosion of matter out of nothing. Well, kind of. Before the explosion, scientists say there was a place/item/area called the Singularity. That area is where all the matter was. Scientists estimate that this space could have been smaller than a proton and then BANG! The universe went from smaller than a proton to the entire universe. But Even if the explosion came out of something, where did the Singularity come from? I m going steal a little bit of the first argument from the movie God s Not Dead: The entire universe jumping into existence in a trillionth of a trillionth of a second out of nothingness in an unimaginably intense flash of light is how he would expect the universe to respond if God uttered the command in Genesis 1:3 "Let there be light." How many people have seen something pop out of the air of nothingness into your room? "Oh, look an elephant just popped into my room!" Have you ever heard or read anything from any history book of anything ever appearing out of nothingness? So as unimaginable as it could be that a new animal will just appear all of a sudden, why would we believe that the entire universe came from nothing? As you will see as we get into our talks about the galaxy and stuff, when things are thousands of lightyears away, and a lightyear is FAR away (we will talk about it then), how can we believe that all of this expansion came from nothing? Never in the history of human experience has a chaotic explosion been observed producing an intricate order that operates purposefully. So setting aside even the bang that created the universe, look at some examples: An explosion in a print shop does not produce an encyclopedia. A tornado sweeping through a junkyard does not assemble a tank. No building contractor dumps his materials on a vacant lot, attaches dynamite, and then waits for a competed home from the resulting bang.

5 Let s just get a little more scientific. Don t worry, if I can understand it, so can you: If the Big Bang were true, scientists say it would have produced equal amounts of positive matter and negative matter (anti-matter). Only small amounts of anti-matter exist. There really should be equal amounts. There actually really isn t enough matter at all! So, get this I find this humorous, they have a theory for the big bang theory. People now begin to believe in Dark Matter. It s matter that you can t detect, you can t see, you can t touch, etc. but they assume it s there because otherwise all their calculations couldn t work. There is also a theory of 'dark energy.' So now I m going to be a scientist and say that I believe that people can really fly. I have theory that we can soar through the sky. "But TJ" you say "how can you fly without any wings?" Well it s simple. You can t see it or feel it or know it s there, but we actually DO have wings connected from our fingers to our backs! We just don t know how to yet use them. If you haven t caught on, it s bogus. As for evolution, I was just watching FRIENDS and the character Ross was arguing for evolution. His main argument was that we have opposable thumbs. So basically, as we have evolved from simple cell organisms, we realized that in order to survive, we needed a thumb. So through years and years and years of evolution we sprouted opposable thumbs. Now I don t know about you, but I ve wanted a third arm for quite some time. It would make everything so much easier. I could type up lessons and play catch at the same time. I could play xbox and shoot basketballs. It would make life easier, and I could more easily survive. You know what I can t grow a third arm. God didn t create humans with the ability to grow or grow back missing limbs. He gave that to snails. Why would we believe that we, through a process of surviving, were able to sprout thumbs?

6 So here s the last point I want to make about it for now. There are scientists that now believe that the Creation story is true. That something formed ex nihilo, just as the Bible says. But somehow, they are so against God that they still won t contribute it to a Creator! Instead, the creation story is just accurate. Ok so, the beginning of the Bible, which tells of how the entire universe started and gets it right, still isn t true? So many of us here, if not all of us, know the Genesis story. Of course, it explains how God created the universe. But on top of the first two chapters of Genesis, the Bible still tells us that God created it all. Check out these verses: Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Colossians 1:16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. Revelation 4:11 You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Job 12:7-9 But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?" These are just some verses from God's Word. There are many more! God created the universe out of nothing, by speaking the commands. Science wants to add so many imaginary pieces to this puzzle just because they don t want to believe in God. To me, it s simple. God said, and it was.
