1 Scholarship Program The Aldine Education Foundation will award scholarships in the pursuit of higher education to deserving graduating high school seniors attending high schools in the Aldine Independent School District. Scholarship Eligibility Applicants must be a graduating senior of a high school of the Aldine Independent School District during the school year. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (collegiate GPA). Applicants for the Aldine Education Foundation scholarship must plan on attending an accredited college, university, community college, or technical school. Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial help with their college or technical education. Applicants must be good students and active in their high school and community. Scholarship Application Process Applications are available online at or (Click on Students and then click on Scholarship Opportunities.). All scholarship applications must be fully completed. Applications must be typed. A copy of your high school transcript must be attached. A copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) must also be included. Applicants must complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to obtain the Student Aid Report (SAR). A copy of the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) may be submitted in place of the Student Aid Report (SAR). Your completed essay must be attached to the application. Please paper clip all documents with your application. Do not staple. Completed applications must be turned in to your guidance counselor by March 11, Be sure all required documents are included with your application. Applications received without all of the required documents will not be considered. Benefits of the Aldine Education Foundation Scholarship This scholarship will help pay for tuition and fees at the college, university, community college, or technical school of your choice during the fall of 2016 and the spring of Any remaining funds may be used for books. The Aldine Education Foundation will award thirteen scholarships in the amount of $1, and three scholarships will be awarded in the amount off $5, This amount will be paid to your college, university, community college or technical school. Unusual Circumstances List any unusual circumstances that would affect your ability to achieve in school or participate in school activities and/or community service activities or that would affect your family s financial situation. Examples of unusual or personal circumstances are family illness, loss of job, living on your own, being homeless, etc. Essay Describe an individual who has had an impact on your life and how your life has changed because of their influence. Limit your essay to no more than 500 words. Attach your essay to the application. Include your name at the top of the page. Recommendation Please attach two (2) signed letters of recommendation on school letterhead from a principal, an assistant principal, counselor or teacher familiar with your qualifications for this scholarship and recommending you to be a recipient of this scholarship. The signature of both the student and parent/guardian (if the student is below 18 years of age) are mandatory before the Aldine Education Foundation will use the student s picture/photograph. I grant permission for pictures/photographs of me to be used for Aldine Education Foundation activities. I understand that in some projects or activities, pictures of me may appear on printed materials, videotape, Aldine Education Foundation website, newspaper, or television.
