1 Grade: Preschool St. John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him. He said, This is the Lamb of God. I told you he would come. I did not know him, but he is the reason I am baptizing in water. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. He is the Son of God. 1. Do you know who is in the icon? 2. Do you see the hand in the corner of the icon? This shows that God gave a blessing to John. 3. God sent John to baptize people in the river Jordan. 4. Where were you baptized? 5.Jesus said that St. John was a most holy man.

This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me I myself did not know him; but for this I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel. And John bore witness, I saw the Spirit descend as on a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, He on whom you see the Spirit descent on and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God. 1. Why do we call him the Baptist? 2. Ask you sponsor the following questions: What did John the Baptist do? Why is he important? If you do, what can you find out about John by looking at his icon?
