2 The structure of the MSc study 2 years duration = 120 ECTS In some specializations: two semesters with courses and two semesters doing the MSc thesis. 60 credits courses and 60 (long) credits thesis In some specializations: three semesters with courses and one semester doing the MSc thesis. 90 credits courses and and 30 (short) credits thesis

3 Master thesis To be written in English or Norwegian A presentation of the thesis at the end of the study Topic and/or field work in cooperation with a supervisor at the department Will be graded A-F, as the courses

9 Important deadlines 19 August: Main deadline for course registration. 24 August: Courses with vacant places will open for further registration, and will keep open until full or until the final deadline 1 September 1 September: Deadline for: * Payment of the semester fee. * StudentWeb: Semester registration, including registration for courses and exams. * Application for special facilities at your exams * Contacting the department about exams in English. * Contacting the department about use of dictionary at exams. * Handing in the pre-study plan

12 Semester card and student cards The semester card will arrive in your mail box when you have paid the semester fee The student card can be made for you at Kortsenteret at Kristian Ottesens house. Before you can have the student card made you have to * Pay the semester fee * Do the semester registration * Bring the semester card Take good care of the semester card and the student card!

18 Information meetings for international students Friday 27 August How to get a part time job in Norway : Topics: what kind of jobs can you get without speaking Norwegian, how to write CV and cover letter Norwegian style, formal requirements like work permits, tax deduction etc. Auditorium 5 in Vilhelm Bjerknes hus. No need to sign up, just show up. Wednes 13 October Job Search Workshop : Workshop for students who don t speak Norwegian, but plan to stay in Norway and apply for a full time job when graduated. Topics: No Norwegian - what kinds of jobs are there, and how to find them?, Norwegian style CV, cover letter and job interview.
