You have decided on a Digital Video Camera with excellent technical features, with the proper accessories and which is particularly easy to operate. Please read all instructions carefully and attentively and observe all the safety instructions. The device has a three year warranty. If the Digital Video Camera should encounter a defect, you must present the enclosed warranty card and your purchase receipt. Please store them carefully together with the operating instructions. Make sure to include the instruction manual if the product is passed on to another party. 1. Safety and warning notices If the digital video camera and accessories are handled improperly, this can be a source of danger to yourself and others, or respectively damage or destroy the digital video camera. Please read and strictly observe the following hazard, safety and warning notices. Intended use This video camera is intended for the recording of videos and digital photos. It is designed for domestic use and is not suitable for commercial applications. Risks for persons with limited abilities to use electronic devices Accessories and packaging are not toys for children. Thus, keep these away from children. Among other things, there is a risk of poisoning and suffocation. The video camera and accessories may not be used by people with limited knowledge of the device. The video camera may only be used by people who are physically and mentally capable of operating it safely. Risk of electric shock by wetness and moisture The video camera and the affiliated components may not be exposed to dripped or sprayed water. Furthermore, no objects filled with liquids, such as vases or glasses, may be placed on or near the device. There is a fire and electric shock hazard. Do not use the video camera near water. There is a fire and electric shock hazard. Pay special attention to the digital video camera when in rain, snowfall, on the beach or close to water and protect it from liquid and moisture. Do not use the video camera in environments with high humidity, a lot of steam, smoke or dust.there is a fire and electric shock hazard. Electrical hazard If foreign objects or water have entered the digital video camera, turn it off. Let everything dry thoroughly. Otherwise there is a fire and electric shock hazard. If the digital video camera has been dropped or the housing is damaged, turn it off. Otherwise there is a fire and electric shock hazard.
6 4 The digital video camera may not be taken apart, modified or repaired. There is a fire and electric shock hazard. Heat damage - fire hazard Do not leave the video camera laying around in places where the temperature could rise significantly. This could damage the housing or the parts inside, which in turn could cause a fire. Do not wrap the video camera in anything and do not place it on textiles. This might cause heat to build up in the video camera, resulting in a deformation of the housing, and it can also cause a fire. Hazards through the use of batteries Remove the batteries from the video camera if it is not used for an extended period of time. Do not immediately remove the batteries after using the video camera for an extended period of time. The batteries often become hot during use. There is danger of explosion if the batteries are replaced improperly or if the wrong type of battery is inserted. Therefore, only use batteries of the type LR03, 1.5 V (AAA) or NiMH batteries with the same specification. Never expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunlight, fire, etc. This is a fire or explosion hazard. Do not store the batteries near fire, stoves or other sources of heat. Never store the batteries at temperatures under 10 C and over 40 C. Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. Never store or transport a battery in a bag or tool box or similar by which there is a hazard of them coming into contact with metal objects. The batteries may not be thrown in fire, short-circuited, completely discharged, deformed or disassembled. There is a fire and explosion hazard. Never touch leaking batteries without the corresponding protection. If the battery acid comes into contact with your skin, wash the spot with a lot of water and soap. Avoid eye contact with the battery acid. Should your eyes ever come into contact with the battery acid, flush your eyes with a lot of water and immediately contact a doctor.
7 5 Dispose the batteries promptly and properly, observing any local hazardous waste regulations. Do not burn or bury them. Injuries and property damage Only place the digital video camera on a stable surface. If not, this could cause the digital video camera to fall or tilt, causing damage to your product. Make sure that the LCD monitor is not exposed to impact or point pressure. This could result in the glass of the monitor being damaged. If the monitor liquid gets into your eyes or onto your skin, it must be rinsed off immediately with clear water. Seek medical attention immediately. Damage to the electronics, monitors, or the lens, which were caused by external influences such as shock, drop, or otherwise, are not warranty cases and will therefore not be repaired free of charge. Do not trigger the additional flash too close to anyone's eyes. This can cause damage to the eyes. Do not drop or bump the video camera and always treat it with care. Otherwise, it could get damaged.

9 Inserting the batteries Open the cover of the battery compartment underneath the carrying strap by sliding the cover to the left. Insert four batteries from type AAA (1.5V) or batteries of the same specification correspondingly with the opposite figure. While doing so, place the black strips under the batteries in order to make it easier to remove them later. Put the battery compartment cover on again and close it tightly Inserting and removing the memory card In order to be able to make recordings with the video camera, you must first insert a memory card into the device. Insert the memory card into the memory card shaft on the bottom of the video camera corresponding with the image and press it far enough into the device until you hear it audibly lock in place. In order to remove the memory card, press shortly on the card; this will then be pushed a little bit out of the device and can be removed. For recordings with 1280 x720 pixels, SDHC memory cards from class 6 or higher should be used.
10 8 5. Menu settings Use the touchscreen to navigate within the menus or, alternatively, use the following buttons: MENU SETUP Zoom button T Zoom button W 5.1. Recording menu Activate or deactivate menu. If no menu point has been selected: change to Setup menu. If a menu point has been selected: accept settings. One option up. One option down. To adjust the settings for recording videos and taking photos, press <MENU> on the touchscreen or press the MENU button. Options appearing on the touchscreen can also be changed directly by touching the monitor. The following settings are available: Resolution: 12M Take photos with resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels (interpolated). 8M Take photos with resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels (interpolated). 5M Take photos with resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. 3M Take photos with resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. 1M Take photos with resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels. Movie size: FHD Video recordings with 1920 x 1080 pixels and 15fps. HD Video recordings with 1280 x 720 pixels and 30fps. 640 Video recordings with 640 x 480 pixels and 30fps. For recordings with 1920 x 1080 pixels or 1280 x 720 pixels, memory cards from class 6 or higher should be used.
11 9 Video mode: Normal CarRecord Quality: Super fine Fine Normal Metering: Center Multi Spot For normal video recording without restrictions. Continuous video recording. Every 2 minutes the video recording is saved to a new file. The oldest video file is deleted in each case as soon as the memory card is full. Low compression in the JPEG format for very good photo quality. Medium compression in the JPEG format for good photo quality. High compression in the JPEG format for normal photo quality. The exposure is determined through the middle area of the image. The exposure is determined through individual points distributed throughout the entire image. The exposure is determined through the centre point of the image. Exposure: The brightness of the photo can be changed in the range from -2.0EV (dark) to +2.0EV (light). Select the desired EV-value with the LEFT and RIGHT buttons and confirm with the OK button. White balance: Auto Daylight Cloudy Fluorescent Tungsten The white balance occurs automatically. For outdoor recordings with bright daylight. For outdoor recordings with clouds. For indoor recordings with neon light. For indoor recordings with light from light bulbs.

Series recording for images. Effect: The following options are available as colour effects: Normal, black-white, sepia, negative, red, green, blue Date Stamp: OFF: Off DATE: Date D&T: Date/time Face Detect: On Off Smile Capture: On Off No date and time on the videos. The date is displayed in the video. Date and time are shown in the video. Turning on the face detection function. Turning off the face detection function. With smile capture switched on, a photo is automatically taken as soon as the camera detects a smile. Turning off the smile capture function. When activating the smile capture, face recognition is activated at the same time.
13 Playback menu In order to change settings in the menu of the playback mode, select the playback mode 7 and press the MENU button. The following settings are available in the playback menu: Lock: Lock/Unlock one Lock all Unlock all Protect individual recording from accidental deletion. Protect all recordings from accidental deletion. Remove the deletion protection by all recordings. Delete: One All Slide show: Start Interval Repeat Delete an individual recording. Delete all recordings. Start slide show of the photos. Time interval between two photos during the slide show. Selection from 1-10 seconds through the LEFT or RIGHT button. Repeat slide show (Yes) or cancel after a run (No). Voice memo: (only for photo recordings) Add Add a voice note to a photo. With the OK-button, a voice recording is started and ended. Delete Delete the voice note for a photo.
14 System settings In order to change system settings for the video camera, first open the menu in any mode with the MENU button. Then with the SETUP button, move into the system menu. The following settings are available in the system menu: Sound: Shutter Start-up Beep Volume Auto Review: Off 1s 3s Determine if an audio signal should be emitted when taking a photo. Determine which tone should be played when turning on the video camera Determine if an audio signal should be emitted when pressing a button. Set the volume for the audio signals. No automatic preview by photos. By photos, the recorded picture is displayed for 1 second. By photos, the recorded picture is displayed for 3 seconds. Power frequency: Set the mains frequency corresponding with the mains frequency of your local mains to 50 or 60 Hz. This hinders flickering for recordings with artificial light. Power save: Set the automatic shutdown time to 1 min, 3 min, 5 min. The camera will switch off automatically after the selected time if no button is pressed. Select OFF to disable the automatic shutdown. Date& Time: Set the date and time. Use the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to change to the value to be modified and change this value with the UP and DOWN buttons. Confirm your setting with the OK-button.
15 13 Language: Choose the desired menu language with the UP and DOWN buttons and confirm your selection with the OK-button. TV-Out: NTSC PAL For playback of recordings through a TV with the NTSC system. For playback of recordings through a TV with the PAL system. Format: You can format the memory card directly in the video camera. Please observe that all data on the memory card will be deleted when you format it! Reset all: With this option, you can reset the settings to the standard settings. Confirm the reset with Yes or cancel the selection with the MENU-button.
16 14 6. Usage of the digital video camera 6.1. Recording videos When switching on the video camera, the recording mode is active. Now press the button to start or end a video recording. During the recording, you can zoom into the image or zoom out of an image with the zoom buttons. Through the LED button, you can also turn the additional flash on or off Taking photos When switching on the video camera, the recording mode is active. Now press the 8 button to start or end taking photos. Furthermore, you can make recordings with the self-timer or in series, provided the corresponding option was selected through the self-timer button. With the self-timer, you can either have a recording triggered 2 or 10 seconds after pressing the shutter release button. In the series image mode, in contrast, 3 recordings will be made in a series Playing recordings Press the 7 symbol on the touchscreen or the operating button with the respective symbol to select the Playback mode. When in Playback mode, the 7 symbol appears in the left top corner of the monitor. In Playback mode you can move between photos using Zoom buttons T and W. When viewing a photo, press SETUP button and then T button after which the view can be enlarged using the T and W buttons. Press SETUP and then W to display a thumbnail view from which individual photos can be selected. To start or end playback of a video recording press the 8 button. Press the SETUP button to stop or continue playback. Using the T and W buttons, the Video recording can be fast forwarded or fast rewound. Video recordings that were made in the CarRecording mode can be automatically played in succession by pressing the 0button in the Playback mode.
17 15 7. Connection to the computer and TV 7.1. System requirements The video camera is compatible with the Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 systems along with MacOS and Linux as USB-removable media. In order to playback and edit videos, we recommend the following requirements: Windows Pentium IV 2.4 GHz or higher Windows XP/Vista/7/8 512 MB RAM 2GB of available hard disk space Available USB port Macintosh PowerPC G3/G4/G5 OS or newer system 512 MB RAM 2GB of available hard disk space Available USB port
18 Installation of software The enclosed CD-ROM contains the following software for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 & 8: MAGIX Photo Manager 10 - a program allowing quick archiving and processing as well as quick viewing of photos on your computer. MAGIX Video Easy SE - software for easy cutting and editing of videos and creation of video CDs and DVDs. Note: Please back up data prior to installing the supplied software. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any data loss. 1. Insert the CD ROM supplied with your camera into the CD/DVD drive of your computer. A welcome screen appears. 2. Click on the name of the desired software. To install the software, follow the on-screen instructions Downloading recordings In order to transfer videos and photos from the video camera to a computer, connect the device through a USB cable with a USB connection from the computer and turn on the video camera. The USB symbol is displayed in the monitor. An additional drive will be set up in My Computer on the computer (by Windows: removable drive, by MacOS: unknown), through which you will have access to the data of the memory card found in the video camera.
19 Use as webcam To use the camera as a webcam, install the webcam driver from the supplied software CD. Connect the video camera to the computer as described in section 7.2 and switch on the camera. Press the SETUP button on the camera to change to the Webcam mode from the MSDC mode. After installing the driver, the folder SPCA1682 PC Driver appears on your computer under All Programs : Open the program Amcap in the folder to display the Webcam image of the video camera. The image can, however, also be viewed using any other program with webcam function Connection to a TV You can transfer the monitor image from the video camera to a TV. Connect the device through the AV cable with an AV connection from the TV. Then select the AV connection used on the TV as the input. If your TV contains a HDMI port you can also connect the camera to the computer using a suitable HDMI cable (not supplied). This will produce a higher quality connection than an AV cable.

21 19 9. Conformity This device corresponds with section 15 of the FCC guidelines. The operation is subject to the following two conditions: This device may not cause any disruptions. This device must be able to absorb all disruptions, even disruptions that result in undesired operation. This device was tested and corresponds in accordance with section 15 of the FCC guidelines with the threshold values for a digital device from the B class. These threshold values serve as an appropriate protection against interference disruptions in living spaces. This device creates and uses high frequency energy and can emit this as well. If the device is not connected and used pursuant to the instructions provided here, the device may significantly disrupt radio transmissions. Nevertheless, despite following the instructions it is possible for disruptions to occur by certain devices. If this device causes disruptions by radio or television reception, which you can determine by turning the device on and off, you can try to solve this problem with one or several of the following measures: Adjust the receiving antenna or place it in a different location. Increase the space between the equipment and receiver. Connect the device and the receiver to two different electric circuits. 22 Storage Always remove the batteries or rechargeable batteries from the casing if you will not be using the camera for a longer period of time and store them separately. For daily safekeeping and storage for a longer period of time, a dry place is ideal protected from access from children. 11. Disposal Dispose of packaging according to its type and in an environmentally friendly manner using the provided collection containers. Batteries and rechargeable batteries are not allowed to be disposed of with household waste. The consumer is legally obligated to return the rechargeable batteries to the designated collection facilities or the battery s point-of-sale. Batteries and rechargeable batteries are therefore labelled with the adjacent displayed symbol. Your product has the symbol on the right. It means that electrical and electronic devices may not be disposed of with household waste, but rather they must be brought to a separate collection point. Through the proper disposal, you contribute to your old device being appropriately collected, treated and used. This will prevent any potential negative impacts on the environment and health, that could develop through an inappropriate disposal.
