1 Questionnaire to Assess Usability of Performance Support System User Name:... Date:... Time:... Internet-based Performance Centred Instruction Link between Work and Education (IPCI) Do you have experience of or educational muldia systems? Yes No Was this experience as an author or user?... This questionnaire has been designed to assess extent to which you, user, find demonstrator easy to use. The questionnaire has eleven sections and some general questions. Please answer all questions as honestly as possible. Please use last section to write any general comments about how you feel about demonstrator and its potential as a learning tool.
2 Learnability (The performance support system should be easy to learn for users) Did IPCI behave in way you expected? When starting IPCI was it clear what you were expected to do? Was each screen clearly identified with an informative title or description? Was important information highlighted on screen? Was it easy to find required information on a screen? Were instructions presented in a clear way? Could you follow instructions easily? Did you understand instructions first? Was it possible to take easy options within IPCI? Were parts of IPCI difficult to use? Did IPCI have distracting features? Did you feel that you were achieving something with IPCI? Were you aware throughout how IPCI software fit into your personal educational scheme? of Do you have any furr comments about learnability of system?
3 Functionality (The IPCI should meet needs and requirements of users when carrying out tasks) Were tasks within IPCI aimed at your intellectual level? Was information presented appropriate for task? Could you access all information needed to perform task? Did system allow you to do what was necessary to perform task? Did sequence of activities undertaken for a task meet your expectations? Where task sequences were long, were y broken down? When you were presented with a list of options was each option clear? Was it clear what different parts of system were? Was it clear how, where and why fellow students/tutors could be contacted? Did you experience problems with knowing how to start a discussion? Did you get relevant feedback when necessary? of Do you have any furr comments about functionality of system?
4 Helpfulness of system (Informative, easy to use, relevant guidance and support should be provided by IPCI) Were appropriate help facilities available? of Were help facilities related to tasks performed? Was it clear what actions you could take at any stage? Did IPCI inform you of delays, making clear it was still working? Was re a cancel key/function for user to reverse an error situation? Were re sufficient instructions when needed on screen? Did you feel IPCI helped you if you got confused? Were error messages explained positively? Did system instructions and error messages indicate what to do? Do you have any furr comments about helpfulness of system? Navigability of system Was it clear to you where you were in IPCI? of Were you certain how to proceed within IPCI? Was re a consistent procedure for moving around IPCI? Did organization of system fit your perception of tasks? Were you able to choose route you wished to take? Do you have any furr comments about navigability of system?
5 Quality of system interface (The interface should be sufficiently flexible in structure, in way information is presented and in terms of user can do?) Did you find information was presented attractively? Did you find that information was presented consistently? Were icons and symbols easy to recognise and understand? Were icons and symbols consistent? Was language clear? Was language consistent? Where jargon was used, did you understand it? Were MM components (such as graphics and text) complementary? Did use of colour help to make IPCI clear? If re was visual material, was size of it suitable for screen? Where sound clear? Where video sequencing clear? Where graphics clear? Was it possible to print certain parts of information you wanted to keep? Do you feel video and sound features, throughout this IPCI software helped you to learn? of Do you have any furr comments about quality of system interface?
6 Controllability of system by user (The user should feel in control of IPCI and tasks to be performed) Did you have control over order in which you carried out activities? Did IPCI give you opportunity to enter things? Did you feel that you could decide what you wanted to do? Did IPCI allow you to work at different levels of understanding? Did IPCI help you to assess your work progress? Did IPCI help you to set your own learning goals? of Were you able to tailor interface style to meet your own needs? Do you have any furr comments about controllability of system by user? Speed of system (The speed of system should be satisfactory to user) Did you find response of system satisfactory? of Was speed of screen sequencing satisfactory? Suitability for group work (The IPCI should meet needs of users working in groups) Did IPCI software support you working toger as a group? Did you experience problems controlling shared windows in a group task? Did you feel one person was in control? Do you have any furr comments about system suitability for group work?
