3 Introduction This document provides the instructions for installing IPMPlus on a Windows Desktop/Server. Interactive Mode for a standalone machine, The following sections describe the hardware requirements and the details of the installation. IPMPlus Standard Edition IPMPlus Standard Edition (IPMPlus) comes with the built-in functionality of power savings and an ability to maximize the savings as per an individual s usage pattern on a standalone PC (Desktop / Laptop / Notebook). You can change or customize the power scheme based on your requirements. Installation Overview IPMPlus default installation path is: C:\Program Files\Vigyanlabs\IPMPLUS (on a 32-bit machine) C:\Program Files (x86)\vigyanlabs\ipmplus (on a 64-bit machine) IPMPlus main folder contains the following sub-folders: bin - Contains all the executables related to IPMPlus SE product conf - Contains files used for configuring IPMPlus data - Data of IPMPlus events are stored in this folder docs Contains the SE Help document, Readme and license files logs Product log files are maintained in this folder 3

4 System Requirements Hardware Requirements: 800 MHz or greater CPU 256 MB RAM or Higher 800 X 600 Display 100 MB free Disk Space Network Interface with Internet Access Supported Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 or above Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or above Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows 8 IPMPlus License Activation Requirements Only an Administrator or user with administrator privileges can install and activate IPMPlus Standard Edition. During the installation you will need access to the internet from the machine on which you are installing IPMPlus, Activation will be successful only if there is internet access. 4

5 Interactive Installation Download IPMPlus Standard installer executable, IPMPlusSE.exe (from and follow the steps below for installation of IPMPlus Standard Edition. If you ve purchased the product, you can use the installer exe from the CD. Double click on IPMPlusSE.exe and then click on Run. You will now see the Installation Welcome screen. Click on Next > to continue with the Setup. 5

6 You can Choose Trail Version Enter ID, Country and City click on Next > button You can Choose Commercial Enter ID, Country, City, Customer ID and Order Number and click on Next > button. 6

7 5) Go through the agreement, accept the agreement and click on Next 6) Select the mode of Installation, either Typical mode or Custom mode. Typical mode installs IPMPlus in its default path, C:\Program Files\Vigyanlabs\IPMPLUS\ 7

8 Custom mode allows you to configure IPMPlus installation folder 7) TCP and UDP communication ports are set to the default values, modify only if necessary. If your system uses a proxy server, select Use Proxy and Enter Proxy IP, Proxy Port. If your Proxy Server requires authentication then select User Authentication and enter the User Name, Password. 8

9 8) Select Additional Tasks window gets displayed where you can choose whether to create a desktop icon or not and You can Choose Screen Saver Enable or Disable. 9) Now, you will get a Ready to install screen where a summary of installation options chosen so far gets displayed. Review all the options entered during installation and click on Install if no changes are required. If you want to make any changes, use the < Back button to revisit installation options window. 9

10 10) Once you click Install, IPMPlus Installer will execute the installation task and displays an installation completion screen. Click on Finish button to complete the setup. 11) IPMPlus Application gets installed as a Windows Service and starts automatically. The console has to be launched by the user, the console is required only for administrative purposes and can be launched when required. To start the console you need to have Administrative Privileges. The console can be launched in the following different ways: Click on the icon (shortcut to IPMPlusSE) created on the desktop Click [start] from Windows desktop o Click [Programs] o Click [IPMPlus] o Click [IPMPlusSE] OR Click on IPMPlusConsoleSE.exe in the folder where IPMPlus has been installed (Default folder will be C:\Program Files\Vigyanlabs\IPMPLUS\bin) 10

11 12) You will see the IPMPlus Console main window, you choose Trial Version Click Activate/Upgrade License now.select Commercial Version Enter customer ID, Order No and License key, Click Activate/Upgrade License now as shown below. Note that the default power scheme is active (Balanced). You can refer to the online Help to understand how to optimize power savings by using the various options available as part of the Power Scheme. 11
