12 The Deans Debate Moderated by Prof. Koning (LUMC) Young talent: to adopt or to foster? Many UMCs have an active policy for attracting talent from elsewhere. But how is talent nurtured within each UMC? Basic Research in a Clinical Environment: a paradox? Basic scientist face different challenges than their clinical colleagues. How to stand-out and survive in the clinical environment of a UMC? Tenure Track: pros and cons Tenure tracks offer a path to a chair and a sense of (false?) security.
