1 MUSICIAN INFORMATION 2016 The Enchanted Forest is interested in musicians to expand our Celtic/Irish performances in the park. In 2015 our Irish Band, Possibly Irish, was formed at Enchanted Forest. It was very popular and we wish to expand Celtic/Irish music performances in We are looking for musicians that can perform when Possibly Irish is not performing, most likely on Mondays and Tuesdays during the summer and also be available to fill in for Possibly Irish Musicians when we are not available to perform. We are auditioning solo musicians for these parts and also open to auditioning bands that are already formed, and auditioning bands for one-time performances. I am also open to listening to musicians who could perform other places in the park such as traditional country music Western Town. All music must be traditional or original. We do not pay royalties. Ideally, we would like the new musicians we hire for the 2016 season to be able to play the same music as Possibly Irish and be able to cover the same parts. We are flexible about looking at alternative options. You can check out Possibly Irish at and also at Facebook.com/possiblyirish. Possibly Irish is a 5 member band. The musicians are: Makaio Caudel lead male singer, Bodhran drum and Irish penny whistle. Emma Ulveland- lead female singer, guitar and cello Abby Ulveland- fiddle, Celtic harp and back up vocals Cabeau Schuerger- guitar and back up vocals Susan Vaslev- hammered dulcimer, Bodhran drum, Irish penny whistle and backup vocals (That is me,) The Gathering Hall, where most of the Irish performances are held, is part of the Enchanted Forest, a family owned theme park. Approximately 100,000 people visit the park each season. The Enchanted Forest is located about 7 miles south of Salem, Oregon, a town of over 150,000 people. We are about 45 minutes south of Portland, Oregon. You have the option as a musician to work only the times you are called for performances, or you can also look into opportunities for additional employment as part of our Artistic Adventures Troupe. This opens up additional areas of the park to work in, including

2 other park musical performances, such as musical performances in our western town, stock, face painting, Chippy mascot work, or other performance skills you may have. The amount of work available in the park will depend on each person s quality of work in the park, how busy we are, and weather. PAY Starting pay for musicians is $10.25 per hour. (This will probably raise to $10.75 if Oregon minimum wage increases to $9.75 in June.) Your total summer earnings can vary according to Oregon weather. Performances may be canceled or shortened for the day in heavy rain. (This is rare during our normal season.) We do not guarantee hours for any positions in the park, including musicians. PERFORMANCE VENUES Possibly Irish normally performs in the Gathering Hall in the Olde World Village. When that building is being used for a private event, we move the Irish music out onto the street of the English Village. There are also several great places to perform in the western town for country music. DAILY SCHEDULE Possibly Irish normally performs toward the end of the day (around 5 PM) Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and gives 3 performances in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. We would like to hire additional musicians for performances Monday and Tuesday and to fill in for Possibly Irish band members when they are not able to perform. Performances are about 25 minutes long. These days could switch when the theatre is cast because several band members are also involved in the theatre. TIME OFF When applying to work as a musician, please think carefully about your upcoming potential scheduling conflicts. If you list those conflicts at the time your audition, I will make every attempt to make sure I have backup musicians during your absence, and I will consider that time off to be a non-issue. This can be a huge problem if you suddenly want extra time off during the season and we have not prepared for it. DRUG TESTING

3 Enchanted Forest is a drug-free workplace and conducts random drug testing. You will also be tested if you appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the Enchanted Forest premises. DRESS CODE FOR ARTISTIC ADVENTURES TROUPE If you are working as part of the Artistic Adventures Troupe you must be able to abide by the dress code. As part of this troupe, even if you opt to do stock, you will still be costumed as part of the Old West or Renaissance. You must look professional. No visible body piercings are allowed including ear gauges. Hair must be a natural looking color, for example, no purple or pink. No visible tattoos. You must be able to cover tattoos with your costume or makeup. SMOKING POLICY A no smoking policy is strictly enforced in our park. If you smoke, you must be able to go smokeless between breaks, and on breaks, smoke only in the outside employee smoking area down at the bottom of the hill. AT WILL EMPLOYMENT Enchanted Forest is an At Will Employer which basically means you are hired without a contract. You may be fired at anytime and you may quit at any time. GENERAL PARK EMPLOYMENT If a musician auditions but is not hired, it is possible to apply for general park employment. This is a separate application process and the information is online. You may apply for both at the same time if you wish. AUDITIONS Auditions will be held as soon as possible, by appointment, before mid-april. All auditions will be held at Enchanted Forest. First, I would like to see something of your own choosing that you feel is appropriate for performance at Enchanted Forest. Keep in mind that all material must be traditional music or original. Enchanted Forest does not pay royalties. Keep in mind that this is a theme park and most music must be lively and up beat for our audiences.

We do play this faster in live performance than what is on this audio file. Please fill out the schedule of availability and application.
