Jeff Michelman discussed some of the challenges of recruiting for the IberoAmericanMBA. The IB Flagship is commited to developing new strategies to try and recruitstudents. Legislative Issues and Update

2 6. MBA in Global Entrepreneurship: Jeff Michelman mentioned the challenges that have arisen through managing curriculum processes at 3 different schools. As a result, the directors all met in Paris on May 11, 2012 and proposed the curriculum changes at EBS-London as presented in Appendix B. Cheryl Van Deusen motioned to review the changes which was seconded by Oliver Schnusenberg. There was significant discussion and the proposal was then passed unanimously. 7. BBA with Euromed: Jeff Michelman presented two items (the full program is attached in Appendix C). o Internship credit change to make the course 1-20 credits, variable. GEB3361: International Business Internship 3 Description: This course involves field practice at designated businesses or government agencies significantly involved in international business operations, research or marketing. Grading is on a pass/fail basis. Jeff explained that the Euromed double degree program requires an 18 credit internship but we currently only have a 3 credit internship class. Because future programs may have additional needs, Jeff suggested that the course be adapted for variable credits of 1-20 in order to facilitate new degree programs. Oliver Schnusenberg motioned to review the change which was seconded by Cheryl Van Deusen. There was significant discussion and the proposal was then passed unanimously. a) Curriculum change in credits to include the thesis for UNF students as only 2 credits which will make both programs 148 hours. Jeff explained that this change was due to a clerical error in the original program. He had discussed this with his contemporaries at Euromed and they supported the change. Cheryl Van Deusen motioned to review the change which was seconded by Young Tae Choi. There was significant discussion and the proposal was then passed unanimously. 8. Jeff suggested that the International Concentration in MBA be re-examined to do two things: a) Allow students more flexibility as Coggin College of Business international courses are often not offered or other courses not listed are offered. b) Make a Coggin College of Business Semester Abroad an automatic concentration. The proposal presented was to make any three Coggin College of Business International courses comprise the International Business concentration including up to one faculty led

3 study abroad. In addition, any study studying full-time for a semester abroad at any Coggin College of Business exchange partner would automatically qualify for the International Business Concentration. Oliver Schnusenberg motioned to review the change which was seconded by Cheryl Van Deusen. There was significant discussion and the proposal was then passed unanimously. 9. Jeff Michelman presented a proposal to change duration of Study Abroad for International Business Majors to a minimum of 4 weeks due to significant availability to meet the requirement through Coggin College of Business programs and the need for students in the International Business major to have more intensive experiences. Cheryl Van Deusen motioned to review the change, which was seconded by Oliver Schnusenberg. There was significant discussion and the proposal was then passed five in favor, none opposed and one abstension. Information Items 10. Planned additional double degrees at the undergraduate level o University of Valencia o Hocheschule Bremen o University of Hertfordshire o Turkey o South America o China 11. TABSA meeting, November 1 & 2 o Jeff Steagall s presence on campus 12. IB Research Conference February 8 & Other Business: Lynn Jones discussed progress in meeting AACSB documentation for International Business programs and she and Jeff Michelman would complete this in the near future. Lynn recommended the following to be considered/reviewed by the (to be formed) faculty advisory council: 1) curriculum map updates/coverage (including proposed changes to GlobalEntreMBA); and 2) addition of IB representatives to the (Under)graduate curriculum committees.

8 Appendix C BBA International Business: Marseilles France University of North Florida, Coggin College of Business & Euromed Management Revised September 19, 2011

BBA International Business: Marseilles France University of North Florida, Coggin College of Business & Euromed Management Revised September 5, The International Business Flagship program is proposing a 149-credit 1 undergraduate double-degree program, with a major in International Business. Our partner university, Euromed, is located outside Marseilles France s second leading business city. The school is both EQUIS accredited (the European business accrediting body), and accredited by AACSB-International (the business accrediting body that has accredited UNF s programs), and is ranked as a top business school in France. Coggin and Euromed have been partners since 1998, exchanging both students and faculty. The history of excellent cooperation between the universities will be essential in operating a double-degree program. Further, Euromed sponsored the Coggin College of Business application to TABSA (TransAtlantic Business School Alliance) This week UNF learned that TABSA 2 received $180,000 funding from Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) to enhance our ability to do double degrees. These types of program were a part of the strategy that we put forward under the International Business Flagship when we were funded by the president s office. Double degree programs at the undergraduate level are a relatively new phenomenon and this program will be one of the first in Florida. Both UNF and EUROMED students will have the option of participating in the program in this limited access track (5 students will be accepted from each school each year) within the International Business Major. In addition to meeting other UNF and Euromed requirements, all candidates must complete an admission interview by their home school. All double-degree students will spend 2 years at each university. Students will take a minimum of 45 hours at UNF with at least 15 at the upper division. The student mobility requirements of this program will mean that while at UNF the French students will mix with both local (some of whom will be in years one and two of the double degree program) and international students, but not the specific students in years three and four of this program, as they will be in France. In contrast, the UNF students studying in France will mix with French (some of whom will be in years one and two of the double degree program) and other international students but not the specific students in years three and four of this program, as they will be in the US. Student Mobility Semester UNF Students Euromed Students 1 UNF Euromed 2 UNF Euromed 3 UNF Euromed 4 UNF Internship in Europe Summer UNF N/A 5 Euromed UNF 6 Euromed UNF 7 Euromed UNF 8 Internship in Europe Internship in the US Summer UNF N/A 1 Because Euromed students will have completed much of the general education requirements prior to beginning the program, their total credits will be The purpose of this project is to create special certification opportunities related to business and develop foreign language competence assessments. The project will also develop international student internship opportunities through the creation of a corporate internship network. Students will develop acute cultural awareness through business practice while preparing them for today s global economy.

10 All students will complete the requirements for the UNF BBA in International Business and the requirements for Euromed's Bachelor of Euromed Management (CeseMed). Instruction will be in both English and French 3. Although UNF students will be given the opportunity to take all classes in English, proficiency through Intermediate French II is required of UNF students so UNF students must continue to take French language during each semester in the program. Students who have demonstrated higher-level French language proficiency will be encouraged to take business classes offered in French. Students will complete both an internship and a thesis before graduating. The IB directors have worked closely with the General Education Council at UNF to ensure that French students will meet the UNF general education requirements upon graduation. The three pillars of the International Business Major have been: 1) foreign language, 2) an internship and 3) study abroad. In comparison to the traditional IB major the double degree program will have 7 semesters of French language compared to 4 in the current program; will have an internship of at least 400 hours that must be completed abroad compared to 200 hours that can be completed in the US for the current program; and will require 4 semesters abroad compared to a minimum of 10 days in the current program.
