1 Installing the Cisco 948 switch into the NetApp cabinet This flyer describes how to install the Cisco 948 switch into the NetApp cabinet. Before you begin The following list specifies the Cisco accessory kit contents: Cisco 948 switch Two inch slider rails Two 4-30 inch slider rails Two 8-4 inch slider rails Two front rack mount brackets Ten -4 Phillips head screws Ten 0-3 Phillips head screws Six M4 6-mm Phillips head screws Ten -4 cage nuts The following list specifies the NetApp installation kit contents: Two L-brackets (X8785-R6) Two 48 inch jumper cords (X558A-R6) The following list specifies the NetApp pass-through blanking panel kit: One pass-through blanking panel Four 0-3 screws Four 0-3 cage nuts The following list specifies the other equipment required for this installation: One Phillips screwdriver 3/6 inch flat blade screwdriver Steps. Align the holes in the L-brackets with the holes in the switch chassis, insert the six M4 screws provided with the Cisco accessory kit, and tighten the screws B0 Copyright 03 NetApp, Inc. 2 L-bracket. Determine the vertical location of switch and pass-through blanking panel in the cabinet. Note: A U space is required below the single switch (or switch pair) for the pass-through panel. 3. Install cage nuts in appropriate square holes for front and rear cabinet rails. 4. Install and loosely secure the 8-4 inch slider rails to the front cabinet rails with -4 screws. 5. Install the switch from the rear of the cabinet. 3 L- bracket 6. Line up the slider rails on both sides so that the slider rails insert into the slide brackets. Slide bracket Note: Two people are required to perform this step. 7. Push the switch towards the front of the cabinet until the L-brackets are flush with the cabinet s rear rails. 3

4 Note: Two people are required to perform this step. 8. Hold the switch chassis up, insert -4 screws into the L-brackets, and tighten the screws. Note: Two people are required to perform this step. 9. Fully tighten the slider rails to the cabinet s front rails. 0. Insert the 0-3 clip nuts in the top and bottom square holes on the front left and right side vertical posts.. Place the pass-through blanking panel directly below the switch and loosely secure the blanking panel to the cabinet's front rails.. Center the panel vertically to prevent intrusion into adjacent rack space and tighten the screws. 3. Insert female connectors of both the jumper cords from the rear of the panel and through the brush assembly and connect to the switch power inlets. Female connectors of the jumper cord 4. Connect the male plugs of both jumper cords to the closest available PDU outlets. Note: To maintain redundancy, the two cords must be connected to different PDUs. 5. Insert SFP modules into the appropriate ports. 6. Insert fiber optic cables into SFPs.
