This pack contains early learning printables to use with your child when reading the book Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. The first half of the kit focuses on skills for younger children and the second includes pages for more advanced preschoolers or kindergarteners. I would highly recommend printing the activities from this set onto cardstock so that they are sturdier for younger hands. 2 Use the top section for your child to practice writing his/her name and add to the front of the lapbook. Depending on the book that you use for your gingerbread unit, have your child summarize the book and record what they tell you. Add the mini book report to the front of your lapbook. 5 Animals in the Book When we read a story, we look to see what animals are in the book. These animals are from the book Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. The cards are laminated and then put on a jump ring so we can flip through the cards and review the animals in the weeks and months that follow. cat cow

8 Making Patterns Cut out the gingerbread boys and girls and the foxes and make different patterns. Patterns can be a simple ABAB pattern {gingerbread boy, gingerbread girl, gingerbread boy, gingerbread girl} or harder AABAAB {gingerbread boy, gingerbread boy, fox}, etc.

9 Cut out the gingerbread boys, gingerbread girls and the foxes to make different patterns.

10 Size Seqencing Use these cards to sequence the gingerbread babies from smallest to largest.

11 Eating a Gingerbread Baby First, eat his left leg. Next, eat his right leg. Then, eat his left arm.

12 Munch on his right arm. Take a bite from his head. Nibble on his tummy. Gobble up any crumbs!

22 Play an uppercase/lowercase ABC matching game with your preschooler, put the letters in ABC order or use the gingerbread boys and girls to spell words or your child s name. Alphabet Matching Making Patterns

28 Gingerbread Baby Puzzle Print out the pieces onto cardstock and have fun piecing together the gingerbread boy! For added fun, you can roll a die to pick a piece. For example: 1. Right arm 2. Body 3. Left arm 4. Legs 5. Right side of face 6. Left side of face

29 Cut out the house and the gingerbread baby. In the story, the gingerbread baby is hiding inside the gingerbread house. Cut the door open and put your gingerbread baby inside the house to hide! You can add the house and baby to part of your lapbook or can glue it to a separate piece of paper.
