The CSR/ES Roadmap The CSR/ES Roadmap is a cross-stakeholder initiative and it sets out a rolling plan of actions to 2018 towards good quality information in the safe use of chemicals in the REACH chemical safety report and the extended safety data sheet. The 21 actions combined cover the logical sequence of steps in gathering, assessing and communicating information on chemical substances. 09:10-09:30 09:30-09:45 09:45-12: Progress on the CSR/ES Roadmap The Second Implementation Plan (Q1, 2014 Q2, 2015): Recap on the Roadmap s aims and the achievements so far. IMPROVING SUPPLY CHAIN COMMUNICATION: SECTOR USE MAPS Laura Walin Roadmap-ENES Coordination Group
2 2(7) 09:45-10: Sector use maps Use maps developed are a key vehicle for facilitating the communication between registrants and downstream users on existing uses and realistic conditions of use. This communication provides information in respect of (1) Description of use; and (2) Exposure assessment inputs for workers, the environment and consumers. The session is designed to share experiences on the application of, and learnings from, sector use maps. The session will also learn about the work of the new Working Group on Extended Use Maps, and its considerations on proposals where the format of such use maps can be extended to support the registrant s chemical safety assessment; by doing so, a number of the shortcomings currently experienced with the information communicated in the chemical safety report and extended safety data sheet can be resolved. PART A: THE SECTOR USE MAP CONCEPT Introduction to sector use maps: What are they? What purpose do they serve? What boundaries currently exist in their application? How sector use maps have developed to respond to both the registrant - downstream user information needs. Potential role of use maps for meeting the needs of other REACH actors: authorities. Potential role of use maps for meeting the needs of other REACH actors: registrants. [20 ] Laura Portugal (DUCC) Working Group on Extended Use Maps Elina Karhu Irene Cañas Sierra (Eurometaux /Nickel Institute) 10:45-11:15 PART B: LESSONS LEARNT WITH SECTOR USE MAPS Building on the past experience viewpoints of downstream users and registrants - strengths and weaknesses with real examples. The focus of the breakout groups will be the connection between the exposure assessment inputs and sector use maps: whether the issues addressed in the Briefing documents are relevant and to confirm that there is a need to invest development work after ENES6, what is the most appropriate way to take this work forward, getting the contributors, as well as timing considerations. Group A: Exposure assessment inputs for workers (with reference to generic exposure scenarios, GESs). Moderator: Jan Urbanus, Concawe. Group B: Exposure assessment inputs for the environment (with reference to specific environmental release categories, SpERCs): Moderator: Johannes Tolls, DUCC. Group C: Exposure assessment inputs for consumers (with reference to specific consumer exposure determinants, SCEDs, and the new industry guidance on specific consumer exposure determinants, published 25 April.
