5 Chapter 1. Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of this outstanding product: WLAN Broadband Router. This product is specifically designed for those who need to have the file sharing and P2P download services beyond his home and office. It provides a complete solution for Internet surfing and broadband sharing. Instructions for installing and configuring this product can be found in this manual. Before you install and use this product, please read this manual carefully for fully exploiting the functions of this product. Package contents TW-WLAN Router package should contain the items listed below. 8 How to Operate DO NOT connect TW-WLAN Router to power before performing the installation steps below. Step 1. Screw the antenna in a clockwise direction to the back panel of the unit. Step 2. Plug the RJ45 cable into LAN port 1~4 and connect with your PC or NB. Step 3. Plug your RJ-45 into the WAN port and connect with your xdsl modem. Step 4. Plug the power jack into it. 8
9 Step 5. Power ON. Step 6. Prepare a USB Storage or Printer, and then plug into the USB port. Configuring with your TW-Wlan Router Step 1. Open the web browser Step 2. Enter the IP address of your router, which by default is , and click Go, a password window prompt appears. The default password is admin 9
10 Chapter 2. SETTINGS WIZARD With wizard setting steps, you could configure the router in a very simple way. This configuration wizard includes settings of a. Login Password, b. Time Zone Setup c. WAN Setup d. Wireless Setup, Press Next button to start configuration. 10
11 Step 1: Allow you to change the system password. It is recommended that you change the system password into the one you prefer to on the basis of security Key in your Old Password (if it is the first initiation, the admin will be the defaulted one. Enter your New Password Enter your Password again for confirmation; it must be the same as the New Password. -> Next Step 2 Setting up the Time Zone Your TW-3G Router automatically detect the right Time Zone, if not press Detect Again to let router automatically search the right Time Zone You can also select the right Time Zone from the dropdown menu 11
12 Step 3 Select WAN Types will be used for Internet connection -> Next Step 3 If chosen Setup WAN type manually, configure the WAN settings LAN IP Address: Change your LAN IP Address (Default is ) WAN Interface: Select your WAN type from dropdown menu, Wireless or Ethernet WAN Type: Select WAN type for WAN Interface. -> Next 12
13 Step 3 If chosen Wireless WAN and 3G, configure the 3G settings Dial-Up Profile: If you want manually configure your Dial-Up Profile select Manual. PIN Code: Enter your SIM card PIN code here. -> Next Step 3 Configuring 3G Dial-Up Profile manually Country: Select your country from dropdown menu Telecom: Select your 3G operator from dropdown menu 3G Network: Select the right 3G network from dropdown menu APN: Enter the APN for your 3G modem here. Default is Internet, but Saunalahti APN is internet.saunalahti. Pin Code: leave this section always empty! Remember to remove the pin code request from your SIM card. Dialed Number: This field should not be altered except when required by your service provider. Account: Enter the new Username for your PC card here. Password: Enter the new Password for your PC card here. 13
14 -> Next Step 3 If chosen Ethernet WAN and Dynamic IP Address, configure the Dynamic IP Address settings Host Name is optional ISP registered MAC Address: If you click the Clone MAC button, you will find the MAC address of your NIC shown in WAN's MAC Address. Note: Do not modify this, if not necessary! -> Next 14
15 Step 4: Configure the wireless settings. Select Enabled or Disabled. The default setting is Enabled. Network ID (SSID) will be as a default 1G-WLAN. It is recommended that you change the SSID for making it easier to identify. Channel: The channel selection is at auto by default, which means that your router will automatically choose the channel with least traffic. If necessary, you might pick a specific channel. -> Next Step 5: Select the Wireless security method of your wireless configuration. Security: Security type for your wireless connection. The security is enabled by default. WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK are recommended. They perform better than WEP. Note: your computer s network card must support the chosen security type. WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK: Choose encryption type, TKIP or AES. With WPA-PSK you should choose TKIP-encryption, with WPA2-PSK-you should choose AES-encryption. The password length is 6-63 letters or numbers. 15
16 Preshared Key: Key is by default. WEP: Choose between 64 / 128 bits, and hexadecimals / ASCII 64 bits + HEX= 10 numbers 128 bits + HEX= 26 numbers 64 bits + ASCII= 5 letters or numbers 128 bits + ASCII= 13 letters or numbers Type your WEP password in Key 1 slot. -> Next 16
17 Step 6: Summary Make sure that the settings are correctly. By clicking Back you can go back to change the settings. -> Apply Settings Once settings have been saved the router will notify you Configuration is completed. Please click finish to back to status page. è Finish 17
18 Additional settings You may first edit the settings with Settings Wizard (chapter 2), and then, if necessary, adjust them from the additional settings menu at the left sidebar. Each link opens up a submenu with further options. Status: Summary, 3G status, Wireless Status, System Logs, Statistics. Main settings: Quick Start, DHCP Server, Wireless, Change Password. Forwarding rules: Virtual Server, Miscellaneous. Security Settings: Packet Filters, Domain Filters, URL Blocking, MAC Control, Miscellaneous section. Advanced Settings: System Log, Dynamic DNS, QoS, SNMP, Routing, System Time, Scheduling section. 18

Tools: System Info, Firmware Upgrade, Backup Settings, Reset to Default, Reboot, Miscellaneous. Status: Summary- page presents a summary of the router's status. Separate tables of each topic can be found under links 3G Status, Wireless Status and Statistics. System Logs -link is a shortcut to system logs. Chapter 3 Main Settings > Quick Start Select the WAN types you prefer to get on the Internet connection Example for 3G connection Please refer to your documentation or service provider for additional information. 19
20 Choose "3G" from the WAN Type dropdown menu Dial-up Profile: If you want to set up Dial-up Profile manually select Manual (Default is Auto-Detection) Country: Select your country from a dropdown menu. Telecom: Select your operator from a dropdown menu. 3G Network: Select the right 3G network from a dropdown menu. APN: Enter the APN notified by your ISP for your modem here. Default it is internet but for Saunalahti it is internet.saunalahti Pin Code: Leave this section always empty! Remember to remove the pin code request from your SIM card. Dialed Number: Enter the dial-number if required by your service provider. Account: Enter User Name (from ISP) for your modem here (if required). Password: Enter the Password (from ISP) for your modem here (if required). Authentication: Leave on auto, if not necessary to change Primary DNS: This feature allows you to assign a Primary DNS Server (Optional) Secondary DNS: This feature allows you to assign a Secondary DNS Server (Optional) Connection Control: is auto reconnect and always on by default. You can disable it, if desired. Precommand (AT Command) leave empty if not required Allowed Connection Time: Always is default. Keep Alive: Here you can change your keep alive settings. -> Save 20
21 Example for ADSL connection (Dynamic IP Address) Choose the Dynamic IP Address option from the WAN Type dropdown menu Activate WWAN for Auto-Failover: If desired, you can Enable WWAN for Auto-Failover, and setup wanted Remote Host for keep alive. If desired, you can define a new host name MTU: Maximum Transmission Unit, comes straight from your operator ISP registered MAC Address: If you click the Clone MAC button, you will find the MAC address of your NIC shown in WAN's MAC Address. Note: Do not modify this, if not necessary! Connection Control: is Connect-on-Demand by default. You can disable it or change it to Auto-Reconnect (always on), if desired. NAT disable: With this you can disable your NAT. -> Save When ADSL connection is used as the default connection, 3G connection can be set up to act as a backup connection when ADSL connection is not available or it disconnects. In order to set 3G connection to work as a backup connection, you need to enable WWAN for auto-failover and setup remote host for keep alive. Define an IP address in the Internet host -section. 21
22 Main Settings > DHCP Server DHCP Server: Choose either Disable or Enable IP Pool Starting/Ending Address: Whenever there is a request, the DHCP server will automatically allocate an unused IP address from the IP address pool to the requesting computer. You must specify the starting / ending address of the IP address pool Lease Time: DHCP lease time to the DHCP client Behind More>> button you can find more options Domain: Optional, this information will be passed to the client Primary DNS/Secondary DNS: This feature allows you to assign a DNS Servers Primary WINS/Secondary WINS: This feature allows you to assign a WINS Servers Gateway: The Gateway Address would be the IP address of an alternate Gateway. 22
23 This function enables you to assign another gateway to your PC, when DHCP server offers an IP to your PC. -> Save Note! Behind Clients List.. button you can see all devices which are connected to your router. 23
24 Main Settings > Wireless Wireless Module: Enabled is the default. Selecting this option will allow you to set your Wireless Access Point (WAP) settings. Network ID (SSID): Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name designated for a specific wireless local area network (WLAN). The SSID's factory default setting is 1G-WLAN. Changing the SSID will enable you to identify your network easier. ( Note: SSID names may contain up to 32 ASCII characters). Channel: Channel auto is the default. Devices on the network must share the same channel. (Note: Wireless adapters automatically scan and match the wireless settings. You may also select the channel you wish to use). Wireless Mode: B/G/N mixed mode is default Security: Wireless network security is enabled by default (default key: ). Either WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK are recommended. They perform better than WEP. WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK: Choose encryption type, TKIP or AES. With WPA-PSK you should choose TKIP-encryption, with WPA2-PSK-you should choose AES-encryption. The password lenght is 6-63 letters or numbers. 24
25 WEP: Choose between 64 / 128 bits, and hexadecimals / ASCII 64 bits + HEX= 10 numbers 128 bits + HEX= 26 numbers 64 bits + ASCII= 5 letters or numbers 128 bits + ASCII= 13 letters or numbers Type your password in Key 1 slot. Note! It s strongly recommended that you change your wireless network encryption key -> Save Note! Behind WDS settings button you can configure WDS settings if needed and behind Wireless client list.. button you can see all devices which are connected to your router with WLAN. Main Settings > Change Password You can change Password here. We strongly recommend you to change the system password for security reasons. -> Save 25
26 Chapter 4. Forwarding Rules > Virtual Server This product s NAT firewall filters out unrecognized packets to protect your Intranet, so all hosts behind this product are invisible to the outside world. If you wish, you can make some of them accessible by enabling the Virtual Server Mapping. A virtual server is defined as a Service Port, and all requests to this port will be redirected to the computer specified by the Server IP. Virtual Server can work with Scheduling Rules, and give user more flexibility on Access control. For Details, please refer to Scheduling Rules. For example, if you have an FTP server (port 21) at , a Web server (port 80) at , and a VPN server at (port 1723), then you need to specify the following virtual server mapping table: -> Save 26
27 Forwarding Rules > Miscellaneous IP Address of DMZ Host DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) Host is a host without the protection of firewall. It allows a computer to be exposed to unrestricted 2-way communication for Internet games, Video conferencing, Internet telephony and other special applications. NOTE: This feature should be used only when needed. Enable DMZ host by clicking the Enable-box. UPnP (Universal Plug And Play), with this function your computer programs which use UPnP can automatically create Virtual Server rules to router. UPnP is disabled by default. -> Save 27
28 Chapter 5. Security Settings > Packet filters Packet Filter enables you to control what packets are allowed to pass the router. Outbound filter applies on all outbound packets. However, inbound filter applies on packets that are destined to Virtual Servers or DMZ host only. You can select one of the two filtering policies: 1. Allow all to pass except those match the specified rules 2. Deny all to pass except those match the specified rules You can specify 8 rules for each direction: inbound or outbound. For each rule, you can define the following: Source IP address Destination IP address Destination port Use Rule# For source or destination IP address, you can define a single IP address ( ) or a range of IP addresses ( ). An empty implies all IP addresses. 28
29 For source or destination port, you can define a single port (80) or a range of ports ( ). Add prefix "T" or "U" to specify TCP or UDP protocol. For example, T80, U53, U , No prefix indicates both TCP and UDP are defined. An empty implies all port addresses. Packet Filter can work with Scheduling Rules, and give user more flexibility on Access control. For Detail, please refer to Scheduling Rule. Each rule can be enabled or disabled individually. -> Save Inbound Filter: To enable Inbound Packet Filter click the check box next to Enable in the Inbound Packet Filter field -> Save 29
30 Security Settings > Domain Filters Domain Filter: let you prevent users under this device from accessing specific URLs. Domain Filter Enable: Check if you want to enable Domain Filter. Log DNS Query: Check if you want to log the action when someone accesses the specific URLs. Privilege IP Address Range: Setting a group of hosts and privilege these hosts to access network without restriction. Domain Suffix: A suffix of URL to be restricted; For example, ".com", "xxx.com". Action: When someone is accessing the URL met the domain-suffix, what kind of action you want. Check drop to block the access. Check log to log these access. Enable: Check to enable each rule. -> Save 30
31 Security Settings > URL Blocking URL Blocking will block LAN computers to connect to pre-defined Websites. The major difference between Domain filter and URL Blocking is that Domain filter requires user to input suffix (like.com or.org, etc), while URL Blocking requires user to input a keyword only. In other words, Domain filter can block specific website, while URL Blocking can block hundreds of websites by simply a keyword. URL Blocking Enable: Check if you want to enable URL Blocking. URL: If any part of the Website's URL matches the pre-defined word, the connection will be blocked. For example, you can use pre-defined word "sex" to block all websites if their URLs contain pre-defined word "sex". Enable: Check to enable each rule. -> Save 31
32 Security Settings > MAC Control MAC Address Control allows you to assign different access rights for different users and to assign a specific IP address to a certain MAC address. MAC Address Control: Check Enable to enable the MAC Address Control. All of the settings on this page will take effect only when Enable is checked. Connection control: Check "Connection control" to enable the controlling of which wired and wireless clients can connect to this device. If a client is denied to connect to this device, it means the client can't access to the Internet either. Choose "allow" or "deny" to allow or deny the clients, whose MAC addresses are not in the "Control table" (please see below), to connect to this device. Association control: Check "Association control" to enable the controlling of which wireless client can associate to the wireless LAN. If a client is denied to associate to the wireless LAN, it means the client can't send or receive any data via this device. Choose "allow" or "deny" to allow or deny the clients, whose MAC addresses are not in the "Control table", to associate to the wireless LAN -> Save 32
33 Security Settings > Miscellaneous Remote Administrator Host/Port In general, only Intranet user can browse the built-in web pages to perform administration task. This feature enables you to perform administration task from remote host. If this feature is enabled, only the specified IP address can perform remote administration. If the specified IP address is , any host can connect to this product to perform administration task. You can use subnet mask bits "/nn" notation to specifie a group of trusted IP addresses for example, " /24". NOTE: When Remote Administration is enabled, the web server port will be shifted to 80. You can change web server port to other port, too. Administrator Time-out: The time of no activity to logout automatically, you may set it to zero to disable this feature. Discard PING from WAN side: When this feature is enabled, any host on the WAN cannot ping this product. DoS Attact Detection: Detection for DoS attacks, check this if want to enable. è Save 33
34 Chapter 6. Advanced Settings > System Log This page supports two methods to export system logs to specific destination by means of syslog (UDP) and SMTP(TCP). IP Address for Syslog: Host IP of destination where syslog will be sent to. Check Enable to enable this function. Setting of Alert: Check if you want to enable alert (send syslog via ). SMTP Server:Port: Input the SMTP server IP and port, which are concated with ':'. If you do not specify port number, the default value is 25. For example, "mail.your_url.com" or " :26". SMTP Username: Write here your SMPT server username. SMTP Password: Write here your SMPT server password. addresses: The recipients who will receive these logs, you can assign more than 1 recipient, using ';' or ',' to separate these addresses. Subject: The subject of alert, this setting is optional. -> Save 34
35 Advanced Settings > Dynamic DNS To host your server on a changing IP address, you have to use dynamic domain name service (DDNS). So that anyone wishing to reach your host only needs to know the name of it. Dynamic DNS will map the name of your host to your current IP address, which changes each time you connect your Internet service provider. Before you enable Dynamic DNS, you need to register an account on one of these Dynamic DNS servers that we list in provider field. To enable Dynamic DNS click the check box next to Enable in the DDNS field. Next you can enter the appropriate information about your Dynamic DNS Server. You have to define: Provider Host Name Username/ Password/Key You will get this information when you register an account on a Dynamic DNS server. -> Save 35
36 Advanced Settings > QoS QoS feature allows you to set priorities to different IP addresses, and thus limit their speed. Enable QoS by clicking on the enable box Define preferred upstream bandwidth speed. This can not be defined as 0. You may either define a specific IP address ( ) or a range of IP addresses ( ) as local and remote IP. Empty slot refers to all IP addresses. Similarly you may define either one specific port (80) or a range of ports ( ). Empty slot refers to all ports. Define the desired priority to each group, and enble each rule by clicking on the enable box on the same line. -> Save 36
37 Advanced Settings > SNMP In brief, SNMP, the Simple Network Management Protocol, is a protocol designed to give a user the capability to remotely manage a computer network by polling and setting terminal values and monitoring network events. Enable SNMP: You must check either Local or Remote or both to enable SNMP function. If Local is checked, this device will response request from LAN. If Remote is checked, this device will response request from WAN. Get Community: Setting the community of GetRequest your device will response. Set Community: Setting the community of SetRequest your device will accept. IP 1,IP 2,IP 3,IP 4: Input your SNMP Management PC s IP here. User has to configure to where this device should send SNMP Trap message. SNMP Version: Please select proper SNMP Version that your SNMP Management software supports. WAN Access IP Address: Remote IP address for allowed remote SNMP client. -> Save 37
38 Advanced Settings > Routing Routing Tables Allow you to determine which physical interface address to use for outgoing IP data grams. If you have more than one routers and subnets, you will need to enable routing table to allow packets to find proper routing path and allow different subnets to communicate with each other. Routing Table settings are settings used to setup the functions of static and dynamic routing. o Dynamic Routing Routing Information Protocol (RIP) will exchange information about destinations for computing routes throughout the network. Please select RIPv2 only if you have different subnet in your network. Otherwise, please select RIPv1 if you need this protocol. o Static Routing For static routing, you can specify up to 8 routing rules. You can enter the destination IP address, subnet mask, gateway, hop for each routing rule, and then enable or disable the rule by checking or un-checking the Enable checkbox. -> Save 38
39 Advanced Settings > System Time Time Zone: Select a time zone where this device locates and router automatically adjusts its clock to right time. Press Sync with Time Server if you want to synchronize your router s clock with time server or press Sync with my PC if you want to synchronize your router s clock with your PC. -> Save 39
40 Advanced Settings > Scheduling You can set the schedule time to decide which service will be turned on or off. Select the Enable item. Press New Add You can write a rule name and set which day and what time to schedule from Start Time to End Time. The following example configure ftp time as everyday 14:10 to 16:20 -> Save 40
41 Chapter 7. Utility for Printer Sharing Step 1. Install the Easy Setup Utility from the provided CD then follow the steps to configure the device. Step 2. Select Language then click Next to continue. Step 3. Please enter your information Then press next to continue. Step 4. Install USB Device Server to Your PC. 41
42 Step 5. Click Install to begin the installation. Step 6. Processing. Step 7. Install Completed. Then you can click icon at your PC to run the program of printer sharing. Once you accomplish the utility of printer sharing, you can execute the program and follow the following steps to setup the printer and start to print. 42
43 Step 8. When you run the utility, you can go to tool -> Configuration to change the language you wish. Step 8-1. Select Language Step 9. Once your printer is ready to plug in router, please make sure your PC already installed the printer driver in Windows. After you plug in USB printer, you can see the printer s name on Utility, then please click Connect to connect with system. you can print successfully through network now. 43
44 Note: You can uninstall this utility through Windows Program files. Step 9-1. If you want your printer to connect automatically next time, you can click on the icon of Auto Connect Printer. 44
45 Chapter 8. NAS > Disk Utility 1. Format This utility would format the certain partition. Please be noted! This action will clear all your data in this partition. You will not be able to recover it any more. 2. Check This utility could help you check the partition, find the lost files, try to fix some problems. NAS > File Sharing > Basic Setting These settings are for Samba Server (Windows Network Neighbors). 1. Computer Name The name that is showed on the windows network neighbors search result. 2. WorkGroup This name MUST be the same as your computer, or you could not search this device via windows. 3. Server Comment Just a comment for recognize. 45
46 NAS > File Sharing > FTP Service These settings are for FTP service. 1. FTP Port: The default port is 21, but sometimes you might want to hide your FTP service by changing it. We have the ability to receive the request on non-standard FTP port, but please be noted, some NAT router could not support non-standard FTP port, that means some of your clients might have to use passive mode to get file. 2. Client Support UTF8: This option is used when your FTP client could support UTF8. Usually, the default value No is okay for most clients. 3. Codepage: Please set correct value to suit your language. NAS > File Sharing > Access Control The default setting is Guest mode, all clients could access as anonymous users. If you want to control the permission, change to Authorization mode and save it, then go to User Configuration. 46
47 NAS > File Sharing > User Configuration In this page, you can manage the user account. Key in the user name and password then press Add could let you add a new user. If you want to delete an account, select it and click Delete button. NAS > Download Assistant NAS > Download Assistant> FTP 1. Job Name: It s for you to remember the job easily, and the device would use this name to info you when the job is done. 2. URL: The URL for the file you want to download. You have to use this format: IP/path/file, you don t have to add protocol part such like ftp://. 3. Save To: 47

Login method: Anonymous, you can access this site without any authentication Account, you have to enter the username and password to login. 5. Start Time: Schedule: this device will start FTP download on the time that you specified. The schedule job that is saved could be check on Status page by selecting View Scheduled Download Status. At Once: the FTP download would be started immediately. NAS > Download Assistant> HTTP 1. Job Name: It s for you to remember the job easily, and the device would use this name to info you when the job is done. 2. URL: The URL for the file you want to download. You have to use this format: IP/path/file, you don t have to add protocol part such like 3. Save To: The destination path on USB disk that you want to save files. Default value is /C/Download/HTTP 4.
